Rise Plush, Artemis II Moon Mascot to Order

Description

A dad wanted to give his little space fan something no shop could sell him: his own Rise, as if the moon mascot of Artemis II had flown home just for him. So we sewed a Rise plush by hand, and gave it a tag that reads "To Mark from the cosmonauts on the Moon".

Nothing here comes off a shelf. Every toy we make is made to order for one person and their idea, and the message on the tag can be anything you like.

Who is Rise?

Rise was the zero-gravity indicator on Artemis II, the crewed flight around the Moon that launched on April 1, 2026. Astronauts carry a small soft toy on board, and when it starts to float, they know they've reached weightlessness.

The design came from Lucas Ye, an 8-year-old second-grader from Mountain View, California. His drawing won NASA's Moon Mascot contest out of more than 2,600 entries from over 50 countries. Rise is a smiling Moon wearing a cap that looks like the Earth, inspired by the famous Apollo 8 "Earthrise" photo. The mascot that flew was sewn at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and carried an SD card with more than 5.6 million names from the "Send Your Name with Artemis" campaign.

Our Rise

Ours is a round white ball of soft plush, small enough to hold in one hand. The face is embroidered: big black eyes with a white shine, a little smile, pink cheeks. Yellow spots stand in for craters, and on the back there's a striped footprint, like the ones astronauts left on the Moon.

The cap is turquoise with green continents, and the navy brim carries embroidered gold stars and a small rocket with a gold trail. On the side hangs the personal tag with Mark's message. The last photo in the gallery is NASA's own picture of the mascot that flew, shown for reference.

Why not buy the official one?

You can: NASA's shop sells an official Rise plush, and it's lovely. What it can't do is carry your child's name, your words, or a size you pick. A custom Rise plush can. Tell us the message, the size and anything you'd like changed, and we'll draw the plush first and adjust it until it's right.

Materials used

This Rise is sewn from soft plush, filled with light stuffing, and the fine details are done in embroidery.

The plush gives the Moon its smooth, bright white surface, so the pink cheeks, the yellow craters and the grey footprint show up clearly. The stuffing keeps it round and squeezable, a nice weight for small hands.

Lead time

A plush like Rise usually takes 2–4 weeks. The range leaves room for the small surprises handmade work always brings.

First we draw the plush version and agree it with you, including the exact words on the tag. Then comes the pattern, cutting and sewing. The embroidery takes the most care here: the face has to smile just right, and the stars and rocket on the brim are small.

You get photos of the finished toy before it's packed, so you can check the message letter by letter before Rise sets off.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once your plush leaves us, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and how quickly customs works.

Around Christmas and other holidays the post slows down everywhere, so add some time if the toy has to arrive by a certain day.
