A Plush Taxidermy Head for Your Wall
Sewn by hand in our studio from faux fur, from the animal or photo you send. No animal harmed.
Plush faux taxidermy is a soft animal head for your wall, sewn by hand from faux fur, plush fabric and stuffing. It looks like a hunting trophy from across the room. Up close it’s a toy. No animal was harmed, and none could be: we work only with faux fur and fabric, never real fur or hide.
Every head is made to order for one person and one wall. There are no ready heads on a shelf here. You pick the animal, the size and the face, and we sew that.
How it hangs, and how big
The head is soft all through, so it weighs little and hangs on the wall like a picture. Some sit on a wooden plaque, the classic trophy look: our moose head is on a shield-shaped plaque, the lemur head on a dark oval one. Others mount straight onto the wall with a flat back, like the zebra head.
In our photos the mammoth head simply hangs on a wooden door.
Size is your call. We agree it with you before we cut anything, along with the colours and the expression. Antlers and tusks are sewn from fabric and stuffed, so they’re soft too.
Price, time, and what if you don’t love it
- Price: from $500. Each head is priced on its own, and the quote is free.
- Time: usually 2β4 weeks to make, then 7β20 business days of delivery. Around Christmas the post slows down everywhere.
- Photos before it ships: you see the finished head and say yes. If something is off, we fix it first.
- Full refund: if it arrives and you don’t love it, tell us within 14 days, for any reason.
We’ve made toys to order since 2009. A trophy head is one of the odder things we sew, and one of the most fun.
The rest of our animals live on the animal plush page; the ones sewn to look like the real thing are under realistic stuffed animals. Ready to talk about your wall? Use the quote form.

They Love Our Toys!
Five Soft Trophies We've Made
The moose that grins

Every cabin and old country house has a moose over the fireplace. Ours smiles. The plush moose head shows a full row of white teeth, has bright blue eyes and a big soft muzzle with open nostrils.
Greyish-taupe faux fur on the head, a long shaggy rust-brown beard down the neck, and branching antlers sewn from dark-brown fabric. It sits on a shield-shaped brown plaque, like a real mount. From across the room it reads as a moose. Up close you see the joke.
Prefer a moose you can hug? We have a whole plush moose too, one that lies down like it’s resting in the grass.
A mammoth, four thousand years late

Nobody has hunted a mammoth in about four thousand years, so this trophy is overdue. The plush mammoth head has a mop of long shaggy ginger hair, a long ribbed trunk built from thick soft rolls, big googly eyes with green irises, a red tongue hanging out and two curved cream-white tusks you can squeeze.
We first drew and sewed this design in 2012, then made it again in 2022. Same head, ten years apart.
The 2012 one had a spiky blond tuft and blue-pupil eyes; the 2022 one got the ginger mop and green eyes. Both stick their tongues out. That’s the point of faux taxidermy: a real mount needs a real animal, ours needs only an idea. Extinct works. Imaginary works.
The Stoned Fox, soft enough to hug

You know the face. Wide glassy eyes, a thin grin, paws folded between the knees. The original is a real piece of taxidermy by British artist Adele Morse, listed on eBay in October 2012, and within weeks it was everywhere on the Russian internet as the stoned fox.
Our Stoned Fox plush copies the look people love, in long ginger faux fur with a cream chest, dark brown legs and a bushy dark-tipped tail, round green eyes set a little too wide and that slightly unsure stitched smile.
This one isn’t a wall piece. The legs hang long and loose, so it sits on a shelf or the edge of a box, just like the photo.
We sewed it in the winter of 2012β13 as a present: a white ribbon on its back carries a printed note from the friend who ordered it. It’s an independent handmade fan piece, with no connection to the original taxidermy, its creator or its owners.
A lemur, felted from wool

Ring-tailed lemurs live wild only in Madagascar and the species is endangered. A real trophy of one would be unthinkable.
Our lemur head wall mount is the kind ending to that joke: needle-felted by hand from wool, with a fluffy white coat, grey on the crown and inside the round ears, black eye patches and muzzle, and glossy amber-yellow eyes that look up past you. Wool is shorn from sheep, not taken from a hide, so no animal was hurt for it.
It sits on a dark varnished oval wooden plaque, the classic trophy mount.
A zebra in a striped cap

Most zebra heads on a wall look serious. The plush zebra head looks like it’s off to a reggae festival.
Bold black stripes curve over a white head and down the neck, the way they do on a real zebra, and each stripe is sewn by hand to follow the shape of the face.
A striped cap in red, yellow, green and black sits tilted over one ear, and under it hangs a whole curtain of long braided yarn locks ending in frayed tassels. The neck has a flat back, so the head mounts straight onto the wall with no plaque.
What your own head can be
The five above are what customers asked for. Yours starts from scratch. Any animal can become a plush trophy head: a pet, a favourite zoo animal, something from a book, a creature you drew yourself, a unicorn. Extinct or endangered is fine, since nothing real is involved. It doesn’t have to be only a head either.
Plush or needle-felted wool, on a plaque or straight on the wall, serious or grinning, with a hat or without. Send a photo, a sketch or a few words, and we agree the look with you before the first cut. Then you get photos of the finished head before it’s packed.
Looking after a soft trophy
A wall head doesn’t get hugged much, so it stays clean for a long time. A soft brush now and then keeps the long fur and the braids tidy. Spot clean only, never the washing machine. Keep the felted wool out of strong direct sun so the white stays white.
Why trust us with your wall
We’ve made toys to order since 2009, each one by hand. A wall piece is on show every day, so we agree the details with you first and send photos of the finished head before it ships. It only leaves us once you’re happy with it.
If it arrives and you don’t love it, you have 14 days to tell us, for any reason, and you get a full refund. The details are on our guarantee page.
Questions about plush taxidermy
No. Every head is sewn from faux fur, plush fabric and stuffing, and the lemur is needle-felted from sheep’s wool. We never use real fur or hide. It looks like a trophy from across the room, and no animal was harmed for it.
The head is soft all through and light, so it hangs like a picture. Some sit on a wooden plaque, like our moose head on a shield-shaped plaque and the lemur on an oval one. Others have a flat back and mount straight onto the wall, like the zebra head. In our photos the mammoth hangs on a wooden door.
That’s your call. There are no ready sizes, because every head is made to order. Tell us the wall and the room it’s for, and we agree the size with you before we cut anything, along with the colours and the expression.

Yes, if you order by November 1. That leaves the usual 2β4 weeks of making plus the holiday post, which slows down everywhere in December. Tell us it’s a Christmas gift when you ask for a quote and we plan the sewing and the shipping together.

Custom toys start from $350.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
