Wildhorn started as a drawing. Someone drew a horned beast, gave it a name and asked us to make it real. We sewed this triceratops plush by hand from that picture, one toy for one customer. A dinosaur that isn't quite a dinosaur

From the front he reads as a triceratops: a big frill, a horn on the nose, two more over the eyes. Then you look along his back. Grey spikes run down the spine and dot the sides, the tail is thick, and every foot ends in claws. Something wilder than a museum dinosaur. His Russian name, Dikorog, means roughly "wild horn", and Wildhorn is our English version of it.

The body is bright turquoise. Over the head and frill it darkens to violet. Magenta stripes cross the face, the legs and the flanks like tiger markings. The eyes are big, round and yellow, and the mouth hangs open with a pink tongue inside, so he always looks a little surprised.

From a flat drawing to a toy that stands

A drawing shows a creature from one side. A plush needs every side. So we work out what the picture leaves out: how the frill looks from behind, where the spikes sit on the far flank, how thick the legs must be for the toy to stand on its own. Then the pattern is drafted for this one character and sewn.

Materials used

Wildhorn's body is soft fleece in bright turquoise, with a darker violet tone over the head and frill. Magenta stripes cover the face, the sides and all four legs.

The horns, the back spikes, the claws and the beak-like snout are a grey fabric with a coarse woven texture. Next to the smooth blue fleece they look hard, the way horn and bone should. The eyes are round and yellow with black pupils, and the open mouth has a pink tongue.

For your creature we pick fabrics to match the colours in your drawing as closely as the material allows. A sound module, lights or poseable limbs can be added on request. All our materials are safe and eco-friendly.

Lead time

A creature like Wildhorn usually takes 2–4 weeks. Simpler toys can be quicker. The estimate carries a bit of spare time, since handwork has its surprises.

Most of those weeks go into the pattern. Nobody has sewn your character before, so there's no ready shape to start from. The frill, the horns and each spike are drafted for this one toy, then cut, sewn and stuffed by hand.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once Wildhorn leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country, the carrier and customs.

The post slows down around the holidays, Christmas most of all. If the toy is a present, say for the person who drew the character, leave a few spare days.
