Somebody drew this cat first. A black body like a stretched-out bean, four legs as thin as pencil lines, a white stripe for an eye, a flat white smile and rings up a tail that sticks straight up. We turned that illustration into a cat plush, sewn by hand to order for the person who sent the drawing. It was never a ready-made toy, and there isn't a second one.
Keeping the drawing's style
The hard part of a cat plush from a drawing isn't the sewing. It's not "fixing" the art. A pattern maker's habit is to round everything off: give the cat a proper nose, shorten the legs, add two button eyes. Do that here and you get any black cat, not this one.
So the odd bits stay odd. The legs are still too long. The eye is one white line, the mouth one white stripe, and the tail rings sit where the artist put them. From across the room it reads like the drawing. Up close it's soft enough to hug, and in the photos it wraps around a boy's shoulders like a scarf.

Maybe yours lives in a sketchbook, a webcomic, a picture book you're writing or the margins of old school notes. Artists call it "my OC". In Japan they say uchi no ko, "our kid". The question is always the same: will the plush look like my art, or like a cute generic version of it? Our answer is the first one.

The cat is sewn from soft black fabric, with white fabric details stitched on top: the eye line, the smile and the rings on the tail. White on black shows every wobble, so those edges have to be clean or the graphic look turns messy.
Inside is a premium hypoallergenic filling. It keeps the body plump and the long legs firm enough for the cat to stand on them. If your own character needs a fluffy coat, we use faux fur only, never natural fur.

A toy like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Most of that goes into the pattern. A flat drawing has no back, no belly and no view from above, so we work those out and check them against your art before any fabric is cut.
Then one maker sews it by hand, stitches the white details and fills it. Odd shapes like these pencil legs often need a test piece first, and the schedule keeps a little room for that. When the cat is done, you get photos to approve.
Shipping usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on where you live, the carrier and the time of year. Around the holidays couriers get busy, and parcels can run late.
If the plush is a present, say for an illustrator's birthday, a book launch or a friend whose character you've been drawing for years, add the making time to the shipping time and count back from the date. For Christmas, place your order by November 1.
