The studio
Skazkodrom is a custom plush toy studio. We sew soft toys and dolls by hand, one at a time, from whatever a customer sends: a drawing, a photo, a screenshot from a game or a few words describing an idea. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting for a buyer. A toy starts when someone asks for it.
Since 2009. We have made more than 2,100 toys, and everyone who sews in the studio has been making toys for over ten years. More than 200 finished toys are shown on this site, each with its own page. See the portfolio.
We work online. You order through the quote form, by email or on WhatsApp, and we ship the finished toy anywhere in the world. Every way to reach us is on Contact Us.
Characters from games, films, TV, anime, comics and books; toys from children’s drawings and original characters (OCs); portrait dolls of real people; plush replicas of pets and realistic animals; plush faux taxidermy; puppets; replicas of lost childhood toys; small 20 cm cotton dolls in K-pop and anime chibi style; and, for businesses, mascots and prototypes with sewing patterns for factories.
Skazkodrom is one of them. We sew game characters to order from a screenshot or official art, in the version and size you want, including characters whose official plushies are small, hard to find or never made, and bigger versions of ones you can buy: Raziel, Rathalos, Gregg Lee and Dr. Eggman among them. No. We are an independent studio. A toy of a known character is a handmade fan piece sewn for one person, not official or licensed merchandise.
Ordering and price
1. Send a picture and your wishes through the quote form, by email or on WhatsApp. 2. We talk through the details and send a price and a time estimate. The quote is free. 3. If you are happy with both, you pay and we start sewing. 4. When the toy is finished, you get photos and we change anything that looks wrong. 5. We ship it to you. Step by step: how we work.
Each toy is handmade and priced individually, by its size and detail. Custom toys start from $260. Some kinds start elsewhere: lost toy replicas from $295, original characters from $400, and a fully dressed collector doll can run to $2,500. Send a picture and we quote it for free.
A clear front view helps most, then the back or side, plus close-ups of what makes the character itself: markings, a scar, the buttons on a coat. A drawing on paper works. For a game or film character, a screenshot or official art and which version you mean. Tell us the size you want and any date you need it by.
Yes. Describe it and our makers sketch it first. If you want a finished drawing of the idea, our artist offers From Thought to Drawing, from $150.
Send your reference sheet or any drawing of your character, front and back if you have them. When a design needs simplifying for fabric, our artist draws a plush version first and you approve it before anything is cut. Original characters start from $400. See OC plush.
Timing and delivery
Making it usually takes 2–4 weeks; extra-detailed toys take a little longer, and you get a real estimate with the quote. Delivery then usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on the country, the courier and how close it is to a holiday.
Worldwide, including the USA, Europe and China. The price depends on the toy’s size, your location and the courier; regular post typically comes to $50–60. A surprise gift can go in plain packaging.
By November 10. That leaves time for making, photo approval and holiday post.
Guarantee and privacy
Yes, at no extra cost. When your toy is finished we send photos. If something looks off, we change it and you look again. Nothing is packed until you say it is right.
On a personal order you have 14 days after it arrives to tell us, for any reason. You get a full refund and you keep the toy: no return shipping and no explanation needed. See our guarantee.
No. Mascots, prototypes and patterns for companies run on business terms agreed up front. For a prototype from a clear brief, one change is included, we sign an NDA and the patterns belong to the client. See Plush Prototypes.
Yes. Your drawings, photos and messages are used only to make your toy. We may show photos of finished toys on our site and social pages; if you would rather we didn’t show yours, say so when you order.
Materials, sizes and extras
Depending on the toy: plush, fleece, minky, faux fur, felt, faux leather, velvet and needle-felted wool, with polyester fiberfill inside. Eyes, noses and claws can be embroidered, painted or made of polymer clay. We use faux fur only. We never use natural fur and do not take orders that ask for it.
Any size you ask for. Toys on this site range from a 20 cm rat to a 1.3 m dinosaur that children climb on. We also sew 20 cm cotton dolls. A bigger size usually costs more.
Yes, on request: wire in the arms and legs so it holds a pose, a sound module, LED lights, clothes that come off, secret pockets, zippers, hand or finger puppet parts, and embroidery of any name or image. Extras change the price and the time, so mention them in the quote.
Yes, from photos. You don’t send us the toy: send every picture you can find, even old family snapshots where the toy is half hidden, and tell us the size you remember. Lost toy replicas start from $295. See lost toy replicas.
Spot clean it: a damp cloth and a little mild soap on the mark, then let it air-dry. Keep most toys out of the washing machine and the dryer.
What we don’t do
- Natural fur. We use faux fur only and turn down orders that ask for real fur.
- Memorial toys sewn from a person’s clothes.
- Official or licensed merchandise. Character toys are handmade fan pieces.
- A shop of ready-made toys. Every toy is made to order for one customer.
- Refunds on business orders (mascots, prototypes, patterns). They run on business terms.
Worth knowing
- One of our toys has been to space. A cosmonaut plush we made for the children’s TV show “Pora v kosmos” (“Time to Go to Space”) on the Russian channel Karusel was then launched into orbit to the Mir space station, which was still working at the time, and saw in the New Year there.
