Some people collect stamps. Some collect mugs. Our client collects moose: moose figures, moose pictures, moose on anything a moose can go on. So when the collection needed a new member, it had to be something no shop shelf had.

This moose plush was made to order, by hand, for that one collection. We don't keep a stock of ready moose to pick from. Every toy here starts with a person and an idea, and this one started with a moose fan who wanted a moose that was soft, cosy and nobody else's.

A moose you can actually hug

Most moose in a collection sit behind glass or hang on a wall. This one lies down. It stretches out on its belly with long legs to the sides, like a moose resting in the grass, and it's big enough to take up a real armful: about 50 cm (20 in) along the back.

The body is covered in curly chocolate-brown fur that looks a little like a sheep's fleece and feels great under your hand. The head is pure moose: a long, heavy muzzle with two small nostrils, small dark eyes, ears with pale lining and flat beige antlers shaped like open palms. Black hooves finish the legs, and there's a short tail at the back.

The detail moose fans look for

Under the chin hangs a shaggy tuft of greyish fur. Real moose have this too. It's a flap of skin and hair called the bell, and nobody is quite sure what it's for. Most cute moose toys skip it. Collectors notice it right away.

On our Russian site we posted this moose with a little poem. Loosely: sometimes a person just needs a moose. To fall asleep hugging it. To talk to it at night. A moose listens to everything and never judges. We think that sums it up.

Materials used

This moose is made of plush and fur with stuffing inside. Together they give it a coat you want to touch: curly and springy on the body, shaggier under the chin, smooth on the antlers and hooves.

A curly chocolate-brown coat over the body, head, legs and tail.
A shaggy greyish-tan beard (the bell) under the chin.
Flat beige antlers and pale inner ears.
Black hooves and black stitched nostrils.
Stuffing inside, soft enough to hug, full enough to hold the moose shape.

If you order your own moose, the colours can change: a lighter brown, a darker coat, bigger antlers for a bull, no antlers for a cow moose. Like most of our toys, it's cared for with a gentle spot clean, never the washing machine.

Lead time

A plush moose like this one usually takes 2–4 weeks. The range leaves room for the small surprises that come with anything sewn by hand.

First we agree the look with you: size, pose, fur colour, the shape of the antlers. Then the pattern is drawn and cut, the body is sewn and stuffed, and the face comes last, because the muzzle and eyes are what make a moose look like a moose and not a horse.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once the moose leaves our workshop, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and your customs office.

Around Christmas and other holidays the post slows down everywhere, so give it extra time if the moose has a date to meet. A moose makes an easy present for anyone who already has a shelf of them, and it's better when it arrives before the party.

Simplest way: mention your date when you ask for a quote. Then the sewing time and the shipping time are planned together before we cut any fabric.
