Mouse or rat? It could pass for either. Cream fur, a brown smudge over one eye, black eyes, pink hands with tiny fingers and a long bare tail. It's big, too. Held up, it fills an adult's arms. This realistic mouse plush, which passes just as well for a realistic rat plush, was sewn by hand from photos. It was made to order, one toy for one customer. We don't keep a shelf of ready mice. Every one starts from the pictures someone sends us.
A rodent plush that looks like the real animal
Most mouse and rat plush is cartoon-round: big head, button eyes, a stub of a tail. Rat owners notice. On their forums the same complaints come up again and again. It's hard to find a rat plush that looks like an actual rat, and the colors are never right.
So here the shape does the work. The coat is long and a little shaggy. The ears are thin and pink inside. Hands and feet are sculpted in fabric, fingers and all, so the toy can sit up with its paws folded or lie flat with its nose on the floor, the way a pet rat naps.
Your own pet, in plush
Pet rats usually live two or three years, and mice even less. Owners know that from the first day. Some order a plush while their ratty is still racing round the cage. Others write after they've said goodbye. Rat people have a name for it: a "forever rat", one that can come along anywhere and never gets sick.
Send us photos of yours: the face, both sides, the back, and close-ups of the markings, whether that's a hood, a cap or one odd spot. We match the fur colors, the eyes and the tail as close as fabric and faux fur allow. It won't be a copy of a living animal. It can be the face you'd know across the room.
What you can choose
- Size, from shelf-sized to a giant like this one
- Fur colors and markings matched to your mouse or rat
- A sound module that squeaks
- LED eyes
- Wire in the limbs so they hold a pose
- A name or message embroidered on a paw or the belly, or a printed tag
Before it ships, you get photos of the finished toy to approve. More lifelike animals are in realistic stuffed animals, and the pets we've sewn from photos are in pet stuffed animals.
The coat is long-pile cream faux fur, with brown fur for the patch over the eye and the stripe up the nose. We use faux fur only, never natural fur. The ears, hands and feet are pink fabric shaped by hand, and the long tail is brown fabric. The eyes are glossy black, set close to the nose the way a rodent's are.
Inside is a premium hypoallergenic filling. The seams are stitched to take hugs, which matters on a toy this big.
- Fur colors and texture matched to your photos
- Wire for poseable limbs, on request
- A squeaking sound module or LED eyes, on request
- An embroidered name or a printed tag
A realistic mouse or rat plush usually takes 2β4 weeks. The pattern comes first: the length of the head, the round of the back, how long the tail runs. Then the fur is cut so the pile lies from nose to tail, the way it grows on a real animal.
The hands and feet are shaped finger by finger, and the face comes last, because the eyes and nose decide the likeness. The schedule keeps some spare room for that. When it's done, you get photos to approve.
Shipping usually takes 7β20 business days, depending on your country, the carrier and the season. Around the holidays couriers are busier, and parcels can run late.
If the plush is a gift, add the making time to the shipping time and count back from the date. It might be a birthday, the day your rat came home, or a friend who has just lost a pet. For Christmas, order by November 1.
The mouse ships only after you've seen and approved the photos, so you know what's in the parcel before it travels.
We've been sewing custom plush since 2009. With realistic animals, small things decide whether it looks right: how the ears sit, how far apart the eyes are, the curve of the nose. You know your pet best, so you check. Photos of the finished toy come to you before it ships.
If it arrives and you don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Got a marking that's hard to describe? Send extra photos before we start. Changes are easy at the pattern stage and much harder once the fur is cut.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
