This is a realistic stuffed dog made from a photo of one customer's pet. Black coat, tan markings over the eyes and down the legs, a white chest, white socks and huge feathered ears. We sewed it by hand in our workshop, for that one owner.

What makes it look alive is the coat. The colouring is complicated: black shading into tan, grey tips in the long ear fringes, a rusty stripe down each leg into bright white paws. When all of that lines up, the toy is almost impossible to tell from the real dog. Our makers matched it by hand against the owner's photo, one colour change at a time.

A toy that holds a pose

The dog is poseable. It can stand on a bench, sit with its tail swept out to one side, stretch out on a rug or turn its head toward you. Change the pose whenever you like, the way your own dog is in a different spot every day.

How to order one of your dog

You need two things to start:

A photo of your dog (several angles help: face, both sides, the back and the tail)
The size you want

We'll tell you the price and the timing, make it by hand, and send you photos of the finished toy before it ships. Mixed breed, rare breed, a scruffy rescue with one ear up: it doesn't matter. We copy the dog you have, not a breed standard.

Materials used

The dog is sewn from faux fur in black, tan, grey and white, and the colours are blended the way they are on the real coat: black shading into rust on the cheeks and legs, grey running through the long fringes on the ears and tail. We never use natural fur.

The ears are the biggest job. They're wide and feathered, with long fur that falls like on the real dog. The chest and paws are bright white, the eyes dark and glossy, the nose black.

The body is poseable, so it stands, sits or lies down and stays that way. All our materials are safe and eco-friendly.

Lead time

A realistic dog like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Some toys are faster. We leave a small margin in every estimate, because handmade work doesn't always run to schedule.

A complex coat is the slow part. Every colour change on your dog, where black turns to tan, where the white socks start, has to land in the same place on the toy.

You get photos of the finished dog before it ships. If you need it by a certain day, say so up front.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. After the toy leaves the studio, it usually takes 7 to 20 business days to reach you, depending on your country and customs. Now and then it's faster.

Around Christmas and other holidays the post gets slower everywhere. If the dog is a gift, for a birthday, a family reunion or a friend who just said goodbye to their pet, plan for a few extra days.
