This Jack Russell plush was made from photos a customer sent us of a real dog. He ordered it as a birthday present for a friend, and it worked: she was genuinely surprised. People who see the toy keep saying the same thing, that it looks alive.

That's the point of a custom dog plush. We sew it by hand, for one person, from one dog's pictures. Nothing here was sitting in a warehouse.

The details that make it a Jack Russell

A short white coat. A black head with tan cheeks and eyebrows. A narrow white blaze running down to a white muzzle dotted with little brown freckles. Folded black ears, a black patch on the shoulder, big dark eyes and a large glossy nose with long white whiskers. Each of those came from the photos.

In one picture the toy sits next to Murka, a real white kitten. It's the easiest way to see the size, and how close the puppy looks to a living animal.

Jack Russells are named after Reverend John Russell, who bred fox-hunting terriers in England in the 1800s. They're small, fast and full of opinions, and owners know every mark on their dog's face. So that's where we spend the most time.

Materials used

The Jack Russell is sewn from short, smooth faux fur: white for the body, legs and muzzle, black for the head, ears and the patch on the shoulder. We never use natural fur.

The tan on the cheeks and eyebrows and the small brown freckles on the muzzle are added by hand to match the photos. The eyes are big, glossy and dark, the nose is large and shiny black, and long white whiskers sit on both sides of the muzzle. Toes are stitched on each paw.

All our materials are safe and eco-friendly.

Lead time

A dog like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Some toys are faster. We add a small reserve to every estimate, because handmade work doesn't always go to plan.

The customer who ordered this Jack Russell thanked us for how quickly it was done. Most of the time still goes into the face: the blaze, the tan shading and the freckles, checked against your photos until it's your dog.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once the dog leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and customs.

Around Christmas and other holidays, parcels slow down everywhere. This one was a birthday gift, and that's the usual case: leave a few spare days so it arrives before the party.
