A maltipoo is small, curly and mostly fluff, which is exactly why it's hard to sew. This maltipoo stuffed animal was made from photos of one real puppy, for the family it belongs to. It wasn't sitting on a shelf. We made it because they sent us their dog.

In person it's hard to tell the toy from the real pet. That comes down to slow, careful work by our makers.

The coat is the likeness

Maltipoos are a Maltese and Poodle cross, and their coats land anywhere between straight and tight curls. This one is wavy and curly, apricot-ginger on the head, back and legs, with a cream-white chest. The ears vanish into the curls. The eyes are round, dark and shiny, with a black button nose right under them. Get any of that wrong and it stops being this dog.

It moves like a puppy

The toy is poseable. It can stand on a garden path, sit up straight, or lie on its back in the grass, as in the photos here, and you can change the pose whenever you like.

Materials used

The maltipoo is sewn from curly faux fur in apricot-ginger, with cream-white faux fur on the chest. We never use natural fur. The curls are what make a maltipoo look like a maltipoo, so they go every which way on the head, ears and back, like a real coat.

The eyes are round and glossy black. The nose is a shiny black button, and the ears are soft flaps hidden under the curls.

The toy is poseable: the legs and body hold the position you give them. All our materials are safe and eco-friendly.

Lead time

A maltipoo like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Some toys are faster. The estimate has a small reserve built in, because handmade work can throw a surprise.

Curly coats take the longest. The colour has to shade from apricot to cream in the right places, and the face has to match your photos closely enough that you'd know your dog at a glance.

Delivery

We send toys all over the world. Delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days from the day the maltipoo leaves us, depending on where you live and how fast your customs are.

Holidays slow the post down, Christmas most of all. If it's a present, for a new puppy's first birthday or for a family member who misses the dog, give it a few extra days.
