Clients often ask us to copy their pet from photos, and this black-and-white Pekingese is one of those dogs. It's a Pekingese stuffed animal made by hand from pictures of one real dog, for its family. It was never a stock toy. Yours would be made from your dog.

The face is everything

A Peke is mostly hair and attitude. This one has a fluffy white head and body, long black silky ears that hang past the chin, black patches around the eyes, a short flat face and a black button nose. The eyes are dark and shiny, set a little wide, a proper Peke stare.

The tail is a white plume with a black patch where it starts. The paws are white with a grey tint at the tips. Small things, but together they make it this dog and not just "a Pekingese".

An old breed with a big coat

Pekingese come from China, where they were kept at the imperial palace, and people still call them lion dogs for the mane. That coat is the hard part for us: long, fine hair on the ears, a fluffy ruff, shorter hair on the face. We pick and trim the faux fur so each part falls like the real coat in your photos.

Materials used

The Pekingese is sewn from faux fur in black and white. We never use natural fur. Long, silky black pile goes on the ears so they hang and move like real Peke ears. The head and body are fluffy white, with a shorter pile on the muzzle so the flat face keeps its shape.

The eye patches are black, the eyes glossy and dark, the nose a shiny black button. The plumed tail is long white faux fur with a black patch at the base, and the paws are tinted grey at the tips.

Lead time

A Pekingese like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Some toys are faster. We quote with a small reserve, because handwork can throw a surprise.

Most of the time goes into the coat and the face: trimming the fur so the ears fall right, and placing the black patches to match your photos. A flat face is easy to get slightly wrong, so we take it slowly.

Delivery

We send toys all over the world. Delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days from the day the Pekingese leaves us, depending on where you live and how quick your customs are.

Holidays slow the post down, Christmas most of all. If it's a present, for a birthday or for someone who misses their dog, give it a few extra days.
