Wrinkles are the whole job

Nobody mistakes a Shar Pei for another dog. The breed comes from China and is known for its loose, folded skin, and a toy that gets the folds wrong just looks like a creased dog. On this one the wrinkles pile up over the forehead and around the eyes, run down the cheeks and gather under the chin. The ears are small and folded flat. The muzzle is broad, with a dark nose and the tip of a pink tongue showing.

The coat is a warm fawn, short and even. The dog lies stretched out with its front paws forward and dark claws stitched on each toe, the way a Shar Pei flops down on the floor.

How we copy your dog

We choose the faux fur, match the colouring and shape the face by hand, all from your photos, following your dog's coat, eye colour and markings as closely as the material allows. Size is up to you: we make small copies of 15–20 cm and life-size ones.

Materials used

The Shar Pei is sewn from short, dense faux fur in warm fawn, lighter on the muzzle. We never use natural fur, on any toy.

The wrinkles are shaped in the sewing and the stuffing, so the folds on the head and neck are part of the toy, not drawn on. The ears are small folded flaps. The eyes are small and glossy, the nose is dark, and a pink tongue tip shows at the front of the mouth. Dark claws are stitched on every paw.

Lead time

A Shar Pei usually takes 2–4 weeks. Some toys are quicker. We keep a small reserve in the estimate, because handwork doesn't always go to plan.

The face takes longest. Each fold is shaped and checked against your photos, since the pattern of wrinkles is what makes one Shar Pei look different from the next.

You see photos of the finished toy before it ships. If there's a date to hit, tell us at the start.

Delivery

We send toys all over the world. Delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days from the day the Shar Pei leaves us, depending on where you live and your customs.

Holidays slow the post down, Christmas most of all. If it's a gift, for a birthday or in memory of a dog, give it a few extra days.

Mention the date when you write to us, and we'll tell you honestly if it's doable.
