This yellow dog plush came off the page of a children's picture book. In the book he's a scruffy golden dog with patches on his coat and a key on his collar, out in a meadow with a boy and an old map. We sewed him to order, from that one illustration, so the story could sit in a child's hands and not only on paper.
That's how every toy here starts. We don't keep a shelf of ready-made dogs. You show us the character, we make it for you.
What we copied from the book
The illustration is soft watercolor, and a toy can't be blurry, so each detail had to become something you can touch:
- Long, bright yellow faux fur, shaggy like the painted coat
- Floppy ears, one with a green polka-dot patch
- Patches on his sides, pink with dots and a purple one, sewn on like real mends
- A green collar with a little bronze-colored key hanging from it
- A button nose, a stitched smile and shiny black eyes
He stands on four sturdy legs with his tail up, like he's ready to run off somewhere.
Book characters that never got a plush
Plenty of picture-book heroes never get a toy. One parent online put it plainly: the kid owns several dog books and there's no plush of any of them. Older, small-press and translated books are the usual case. If no store sells the character your kid keeps asking about, that's the gap we fill.
Your book, your character
Send us the cover and a few pages where the character is clearest. Tell us the size you want and who it's for. We can make a dog, a bear, a monster like our Gruffalo, or a creature nobody else has heard of. More book character plushies are here, and if your character lives in your child's own drawing, see plush from drawings.
Before the toy ships, you get photos of it to approve.
The storybook dog is sewn from premium fabrics, picked to match the painting:
- Long-pile yellow faux fur for the whole body, as shaggy as the painted coat
- Printed fabric patches, green, pink and purple with polka dots, stitched onto the ears and sides
- A green fabric collar with a small metal-look key charm
- A button for the nose, black bead eyes and an embroidered smile
The filling is hypoallergenic. We only ever use faux fur, never real. If your book character has a different coat color, other patches or a scarf instead of a collar, tell us at the start, since all of that is part of the pattern.
A custom book character plush like this one usually takes 2β4 weeks.
Most of that time goes into the pattern. A painted character has no seams and no back view, so we work out how he looks from every side, then sew a body that stands on its own.
Then the patches go on, and the eyes, nose and smile come last. The time frame has a small reserve for handmade surprises, so if there's a birthday or a holiday coming, say so in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7β20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers slow down, so it can take longer.
A toy from a favorite bedtime book makes a good birthday or holiday present, so count back from the date: making time plus delivery. For Christmas, order by November 1.
We send you photos of the finished toy before it leaves the studio, then pack it so the fur and the key arrive in good shape.
We've been sewing custom plush since 2009. Book characters are a big part of what we make: heroes that exist only as pictures, with no toy anywhere.
Kids know their favorite book by heart and spot every wrong patch. That's why you see photos of the toy before it ships. If you still don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Not sure which page to send or what size to pick? Ask before we start. It's much easier to change a detail in the pattern than in a finished toy.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
