Every lodge, cabin and old country house seems to have one: a moose head over the fireplace. Ours smiles. This plush moose head is soft faux taxidermy, sewn by hand and mounted on a wooden-look plaque, and no animal was harmed to make it.

It was made to order. We don't sell ready heads off a shelf. Each one starts with your wall, your room and your idea, and gets built for that.

A trophy with a sense of humour

A real mounted moose looks stern. This one grins from ear to ear and shows a full row of white teeth. It has bright blue eyes, a big soft muzzle with open nostrils, and wide ears in greyish-taupe faux fur. A long shaggy rust-brown beard runs down its neck, and branching dark-brown antlers are sewn from fabric, so they're soft too.

The head sits on a shield-shaped brown plaque, just like a classic hunting trophy. From across the room it reads as a moose mount. Up close you see it's a toy, and that's the fun of it.

Materials used

This moose head is made of faux fur and soft fabric, with stuffing inside. We never use real fur, and nothing on this trophy came from an animal.

Short greyish-taupe faux fur on the head and ears.

For your own head we can change the colours, make the face serious or cheeky, or give the antlers a different shape. Wall pieces don't get hugged much, so a soft brush now and then keeps the fur looking fresh. A gentle spot clean handles the rest, never the washing machine.

Lead time

A plush trophy head like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. That range leaves room for the surprises that come with anything handmade.

First we agree the look with you: which animal, how big, the face, the fur colours and the plaque. Then the pattern is drawn, the head is sewn and stuffed, the antlers or horns are made, and the face comes last, because the eyes and the mouth decide the whole character.

You get photos of the finished head before it's packed. Want it up before a housewarming or a holiday? Tell us the date at the start and we'll say straight away if it fits.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once the head leaves our workshop, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and your customs office.

Around Christmas and other holidays the post slows down everywhere. A moose head is a classic winter-cabin look, so if you want it on the wall for the season, order a little earlier than feels necessary.

The easiest way is to mention your date when you ask for a quote. Then the sewing time and the shipping time are planned together before we cut any fabric.
