Most zebra heads on a wall look serious. This one looks like it's heading to a reggae festival. Our plush zebra head is faux taxidermy sewn by hand: a striped head and neck that hang on the wall like a hunting trophy, with a striped cap and a long curtain of yarn braids. No zebra was harmed. It's all fabric, yarn and stuffing.

It was made to order. There are no ready heads on a shelf here: each one is built for one person and one wall, and yours can look however you like.

A trophy with dreadlocks

Start with the stripes. Bold black stripes curve over a white head and run down the neck, the way they do on a real zebra. A big black muzzle, a dark eye with a soft lid and two tall ears in shaggy dark grey finish the face.

Then the part everyone points at. A striped cap in red, yellow, green and black sits tilted over one ear. From under it falls a mane of long braided yarn locks, a whole curtain of them, hanging well past the muzzle and ending in loose frayed tassels. It's a zebra that decided a mane wasn't enough.

Where a zebra head looks good

Faux taxidermy started as a joke on the hunting lodge, and a zebra takes the joke somewhere warmer. Hang it over a sofa, in a hallway, above a bar or a record shelf, or in a kid's room that needs one bold thing. Black and white goes with almost any wall, and the cap adds just enough colour. The head mounts straight onto the wall, no plaque needed.

No two alike

Every real zebra has its own stripe pattern, like a fingerprint. Ours are the same, because every head is cut and sewn by hand. Materials used

This zebra head is made from soft fabric, yarn and stuffing. We only ever use faux fur and fabric, never real fur or hide.

Long braided yarn locks with loose tassel ends.
Soft stuffing, and a flat back on the neck so it sits against the wall.

Every part can change for your version: stripe colours, the hat, the length and number of braids. Keep it dry, dust it with a soft brush, and spot clean only. The braids like a gentle shake now and then.

Lead time

A zebra head like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Handmade work sometimes needs the extra week.

First we agree the look with you: the size, the stripes, and whether it wears a cap and braids. Then the pattern is drawn and the head is sewn and stuffed. The stripes take real time, because each one has to curve with the shape of the face. The braids are plaited one by one.

You get photos of the finished zebra before it's packed. If it's a gift, tell us the date at the start.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once the zebra leaves our workshop, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and your customs office.

Around Christmas and other holidays the post slows down everywhere. A zebra head makes a great housewarming or birthday gift for someone who has everything, so if there's a date, order a little earlier than feels necessary.

The easiest way is to mention your date when you ask for a quote. Then the sewing time and the shipping time are planned together before we start.
