This custom mascot doll started as an empty sheet of paper. A brand built around travel was getting ready to launch its own line of products for travelers, and it wanted a face. There was no character yet, so we made one to order, from the first pencil line to the finished doll.
Most of what we make is soft toys. Now and then a brand needs a doll instead, and this was one of those times.
Sketch first, doll second
The client asked to see the character on paper before anything was sculpted. So we drew a sketch, talked it through, and only then started on the doll. That order of work saves everyone surprises: the brand approves a picture, and the doll follows the picture.
What came out is a calm old wanderer. He wears a turquoise turban with a red mark on his forehead, his eyes are closed in a half-smile, and a long white beard hangs down over his shirt. A cream coat is tied at the waist with a sash. Under it: a white shirt with a small teal emblem, baggy white trousers and pointed slippers. He carries a backpack and holds a telescopic pole with a tiny camera on top, which is about as travel-blogger as a sage can get.
Sculpted by hand in polymer clay
The doll is made of polymer clay, and all of it is handwork. The face carries the character: the wrinkles, the nose, the closed eyelids. That's where a mascot either has a personality or doesn't.
A mascot for travelers has to travel, so we also sewed him a zip case with a soft lining and a cushion for his head. He packs into it like a pair of glasses and comes out ready for the next photo.
Your brand character
You don't need a finished design to start. A few lines about your brand, a mood, a rough idea of who the character is: that's enough for us to draw a first sketch. More brand characters live on our custom mascot plush page, and here is another branded doll we made for a company.
The wanderer is sculpted from polymer clay by hand. Clay lets us get detail that fabric can't hold at this size: the creases around his eyes, the knuckles on his fingers, the shape of his slippers.

For your mascot we can work in clay, in fabric, or both. Soft plush, a doll with a sculpted face, brand colours, a logo on the clothes or a case: tell us how the character will be used and we'll suggest what fits.
A mascot doll usually takes 2–4 weeks. A character designed from zero, like this one, can take longer, because the sketch comes first and you approve it before we start the doll.
After the sketch: sculpting, then the clothes and props, sewn and fitted on the finished doll. A case or other extras are made last.
Our estimate already includes a reserve for the surprises that come with handwork. If the mascot has to be ready for a launch or a trade show, give us the date when you ask for a quote.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on the country, the carrier and customs. Couriers get slower around big holidays, so plan some extra time.
Brand mascots tend to have a date attached: a product launch, a first photo shoot, an exhibition. Add the making time to the shipping time and count back from that day. For anything at the end of the year, order by November 1.
A clay doll travels well packed. Before it ships, you get photos of the finished mascot, so you know exactly what is coming.

With a new character, the sketch is where the decisions happen. You see the drawing before any clay is touched: the face, the outfit, the props, where your emblem goes. Changes are easy at that stage, and the doll is made from the drawing you approved.
