Fursonas and original characters

Most furries spend a long time getting a sona right: the species, the colors, the markings, that one earring. A plush is the first version you can hug. The two above are original characters. The cat is cream minky with big embroidered blue eyes, a brown tuft of hair and a spotted tail. Its friend is white, with purple eye patches, a green tuft and tiny gold rings in its huge ears. He wears a red cape with his name on the back.

Anthro heroes from video games

Gregg Lee from Night in the Woods came from a customer’s fan art, not the game sprite. So he got faux fur in two lengths, a shaped muzzle, a leatherette jacket, a knife in his paw and two soda cups over his ears. Akane Yamakawa from Curse of the Sea Rats wears a red kimono. Sally Acorn from the Sonic cartoons and comics has red curls and a satin gown with embroidered roses. More are in video game characters.

Furry dolls with a frame, a face and a wardrobe

Some anthro characters want to be dolls more than plush toys. The first Carmelita Fox we made is 23 inches tall, with a wire frame inside, hand-painted eyes and clothes that all come off: her Interpol jacket, an evening dress, pajamas and a robe. Renamon from Digimon has jointed limbs, a faux-fur tail and painted blue eyes. Jenny from Bucky O’Hare has long pink hair and silver armor with red gems. Our other dolls are in character dolls.

Anthro cartoon favorites

Some fans fell for anthro characters long before they had a word for it. Gadget Hackwrench from Rescue Rangers comes with her big wrench, and we’ve sewn her in two looks, one blonde and one with orange hair. Classified, the wolf from Penguins of Madagascar, has shaggy black eyebrows, a gray-blue body and a badge on his wristband. More cartoon characters are in toys from animated films.

What you can choose

• Any species. Fox, wolf, cat, rat, dragon, bird or a hybrid you made up.
• Fabric: minky for clean color blocks, fleece, or faux fur where the character is shaggy. Never natural fur.
• Soft or poseable. A floppy plush, or a wire frame so it holds a pose.
• Clothes sewn on, or made to come off.
• Any size, from a desk plush up. Bigger ones take longer and cost more.
• Extras on request: embroidery, props, a sound module, LED lights. Extras change the price and the time.
