To get a plush of your OC, send us one clear drawing of the character. A front view is enough, and extra sketches help. SKAZKODROM sews it by hand as a one-off plush: OC plushies start from $400, making usually takes 2–4 weeks, and you approve photos of the finished toy before it ships.

We don’t keep ready toys. Every plush here is made to order for one person, from their own art, and there’s no second copy. We’ve worked this way since 2009, more than 2,100 toys so far.

This page is for grown-up artists: illustrators, animators, OC creators, people who fill sketchbooks in meetings. An original character is one you made up yourself, so no shop will ever sell it. What kind of sketch do I need to turn my OC into a plush?

Less than most artists think. One view of the character is enough to start an OC plush. It can be a finished illustration, flat colors, or pencil line art on paper.

The Voodoo Unicorn came from a black-and-white line sketch: a stitched face, a torn mane, big round eyes. Lou the Dog came from two pictures by Magge, an animator in Italy. One was a color sketch with arrows and notes, the other a pencil drawing of the pose.

What makes a sketch easier to sew:

  • The whole character in one picture, feet and tail included.
  • Color notes, or hex codes if you have them. “Dark gray, not black” saves a round of questions.
  • Close-ups of the details that matter: a mark, a scar, a pattern on a sleeve.
  • The size you want and whether the plush should sit or stand.
  • What we may simplify, and what we may not.

A phone photo of a page taken in daylight works fine. You don’t need to scan anything.

Does a turnaround or ref sheet help with an OC plush?

Yes, but it isn’t required. A turnaround shows the character from the front, side and back. Animators call it a model sheet, a document that keeps a character looking the same from drawing to drawing. A plush maker uses it the same way.

The gamer behind our Trove dolls sent a turnaround sheet of both outfits, front, side and back. With it, nobody had to guess how the hair buns sit or where the armor plates end.

Without a turnaround, our makers work out what the drawing leaves out, and ask you about it. A drawing shows a creature from one side. A plush needs every side: the back of the head, the far flank, how thick the legs must be for the toy to stand. Wildhorn, a horned beast someone drew and named, came from a single drawing like that.

How does a sketch become a plush design?

Between your drawing and the fabric there’s one more step: the plush design. When a character needs adapting, our artist draws a plush version first. You see it before anything is cut.

That drawing answers the questions paper never asks. A line that looks crisp in ink can turn to mush at plush size. A huge head on a tiny body has to sit up without tipping over. Fine patterns may need printed fabric instead of sewn pieces. You decide what stays.

The winged cat in the photo below started as one person’s own design. Our artist drew a plush sketch from the original drawing, and the toy got wings that move. Other things fabric can do for your character:

  • Wire in the limbs or tail, so the plush holds a pose
  • Embroidered eyes and markings, or printed details where embroidery is too coarse
  • Clothes that come off, and a name on a cape or a paw pad
  • A sound module or LED lights, on request
  • Faux fur for fluffy species. We never use real fur.

What are the steps from sketch to finished OC plush?

  1. Send your art through the quote form: the sketch, any extra views, the size and the details that must be exact.
  2. Get a price and a date. The quote is free and comes with a real time estimate.
  3. Approve the plush sketch, if your character needs one. Nothing is cut until you say yes.
  4. We draft the pattern and sew it by hand. Making usually takes 2–4 weeks.
  5. Approve the photos. You see the finished plush before it ships, and we fix anything that looks off.
  6. It ships. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, a bit longer around the holidays.

How much does it cost to turn a drawing into an OC plush?

An OC plush starts from $400, and custom toys in general from $350. Size, the number of parts and extras like wire or a sound module move the price, so every character gets its own quote. Some starting prices from characters we’ve sewn:

Is my art kept private, and who owns the character?

Your OC stays yours. We only make the plush. Your drawings, ref sheets and messages are used to make your toy and nothing else.

We sometimes show finished toys on our site, like the ones on this page. If you’d rather we didn’t show yours, say so when you order and we won’t. That matters if your character is unreleased: a webcomic hero, a game in development, a short film nobody has seen yet.

What do artists say after their character becomes a plush?

What if the plush doesn’t look like my OC?

Most fixes happen before shipping, because you approve the photos first. If the plush arrives and it still isn’t your character, tell us within 14 days, for any reason. You get a full refund and keep the toy. The details are on our guarantee page.
