Can you get a custom plush made for a kid? Yes. At SKAZKODROM we sew one toy by hand for one child: their own drawing, a favorite cartoon or game character, the family pet, a copy of a lost toy, or a hero from your bedtime stories. Custom toys start from $350, usually take 2β4 weeks, and you see photos before it ships.
Nothing here sits on a shelf waiting for a buyer. A toy starts when a parent, a grandparent or an aunt tells us who the kid loves. We’ve done this since 2009, more than 2,100 toys so far. On a personal order you also get a full refund within 14 days if the toy isn’t right, and you keep it.
What kind of custom plush can you make for a child?
Pretty much anything a kid can point at, draw or describe. These are the custom plush toys for kids that parents ask us for most:
- Their favorite character from a cartoon, a book or a game, especially one nobody makes a plush of.
- Their own drawing, sewn so it still looks like their picture. See Plush From Drawings.
- The family pet as a plush, from your photos.
- A copy of a toy they lost on a trip or in a move.
- A comfort toy with their name or a short message sewn on.
- A character from a story you tell them at bedtime, made from a description.
- A doll that looks like them, or a hand puppet for their own shows.
Each of these is a custom plush made to order for one child. We don’t pick from a catalog. We start from what your kid already loves.
Can I get a plush of my child’s favorite cartoon or game character?
Yes, and it’s the request we get most from parents. Kids fall for side characters, villains and game monsters that never got a plush. Parents on Reddit say it all the time: the kid is obsessed with one character, and the toy simply doesn’t exist.
A few custom character plushies we’ve made for kids:
- Rayman Magician. Not Rayman himself: the kid wanted the little Teensy in the tall star hat. Wire in the arms and legs lets him change poses. From $330.
- Dr. Eggman, for a boy who loves Sonic and wanted a big one, not a hand-sized one. The doll came out almost as tall as he is.
- Buttercup, the white unicorn from Toy Story, sewn for one child whose favorite character he was. From $365.
- Blabbit from My Singing Monsters, made in 2016 as a gift for the boy in the photo above.
- The orange cat from the Viber stickers, designed and sewn for one girl.
Send a screenshot or a picture and tell us the size. We can make the character bigger than any official toy, add a sound module, or put wire in the limbs for posing. More ideas are in Toys From Animated Films and Video Game Characters. These are handmade fan pieces from an independent studio, not official merchandise.
How can my child help design their own plush?
Kids make great clients, because they know exactly what they want. A child can help with a custom plush at every step:
- Draw it. Crayon, pencil, a doodle on a napkin. Any drawing works.
- Pick the colors. If the drawing is in pencil, write the colors next to it.
- Choose the size. Something to carry everywhere, or something to sit next to on the sofa.
- Name it, and we can embroider the name on.
- Look at the photos of the finished toy with you before it ships.
One child sketched a round little unicorn and wrote “silver” next to the wings, so the rainbow unicorn got quilted silver wings. A girl drew a crying striped cat on a scrap of paper, and the Rainbow Kitty kept her tears, her whiskers and her “w” mouth. With a child’s drawing we keep what makes it theirs, wonky lines and all. Our guide to turning your child’s drawing into a plush goes into detail.
Can you make a plush of our family pet for my child?
Yes. A pet plush is sewn by hand from your photos of the dog, cat or rabbit your child grew up with: the same coat colors, markings and ears. Maybe your kid wants the dog along at a sleepover. Maybe the cat is too old, too grumpy or too far away to cuddle every day.
Send a few clear photos from the front and the side, plus close-ups of any markings. Pet plush starts from $390 in our Pet Stuffed Animal collection. Our article on turning your pet into a plush explains which photos help most.
Can you copy a stuffed animal my child lost?
Yes. If a favorite stuffed animal was left on a plane or vanished in a move, we can sew it again from old photos. Family albums are usually enough, even when the toy is half hidden behind the child. The Family Cat is one of these: a family’s toy copied from photos.
Lost toy replicas are a separate, cheaper service, from $295. Tell us how the toy looked when your child last had it, worn spots and all, so the copy feels like the same friend. Start with our article on what to do about a lost stuffed animal, or see Lost Toy Replicas.
Can a custom comfort toy carry my child’s name or a message?
Yes. A name, a date or a short message can be embroidered on the toy or on a sewn-in fabric tag. A dad once asked us for a Rise plush, the Moon mascot from Artemis II, for his little space fan. The tag reads “To Mark from the cosmonauts on the Moon”.
Kids get very attached to one toy. Wikipedia’s article on the comfort object cites research that about 60% of children in the United States have some attachment to a security object, the thing they reach for at bedtime or in a new place. A custom comfort toy can be that object, built around their name, their colors or their favorite animal.
Other options are real too: a sound module with a voice or a song, removable clothes, a little pocket. Our guide to the personalized stuffed animal lists them all.
Can you sew a character from a bedtime story we made up?
Yes. Lots of families have a character who lives only in stories: a dragon who’s scared of the dark, a bear who goes to school, a monster under the bed who turns out to be friendly. If you have no picture, describe it in words. Our artist can draw it first, from $150, through From Thought to Drawing, and your child can approve the drawing before anything is sewn.
Book characters work the same way. We sewed a Gruffalo plush for one family, for a child’s party, from the pictures in Julia Donaldson’s book.
Want to put on a show with it? A hand puppet with a movable mouth is another option, and custom puppets start from $330 (see Custom Puppets). For a doll that looks like your child, our portrait dolls are sewn from photos, like this plush portrait doll in an orange hoodie.
How long will a handmade plush last with a child?
A custom plush for a kid gets hugged, dragged around and taken on trips, so we build it for that. Every toy is cut from its own pattern and sewn by hand, one at a time. Our motto for this part is short: tiny details, tough seams, built for hugs.
The materials are listed on each toy page. A typical kid’s plush uses soft plush and fleece for the body, faux fur for manes and tails (never natural fur), felt for little pieces like horns and stars, and embroidery for faces and names. The Buttercup plush, for example, has a soft white body with stubby legs, made to be hugged and carried around.
Tell us where the toy will live: a kid’s bed, a backpack or a shelf. We’ll help you pick the size, the fabrics and the details for that. A toy that goes everywhere usually works best small. A big one is for sitting next to.
What did parents say about their kids’ custom plush?
Ruslan wanted Findus the cat from Pettson and Findus for his daughter’s birthday, small enough for her to carry. Alex ordered Bill the lizard from Alice in Wonderland for his daughter.
“I needed a toy no taller than 25-30 cm since I wanted my daughter to carry it around β¦ I’m sure my daughter will remember this present for a long time to come. Hopefully, Findus will become her best friend, to be taken everywhere and not just another random soft toy to be thrown into a dusty cupboard.”

“Though the toy was meant to be created for my daughter, I am really enjoying it myself))”

Custom toys start from $350.
A bigger size or extra details can cost more.
Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
