Want people to stop at your booth? Put two dolls taller than most kids on it. These Toca Boca dolls are about 150 cm (59 in) tall and were sewn to order for an exhibition stand. Big round heads, yarn hair, chunky sneakers.
We made them from the game characters the client showed us. You won't find dolls like these in a shop.
Two friends from the game
One doll has long straight brown hair with a centre parting, a black top with a single white cross outlined in red, red socks and brown-and-white sneakers.
The other has turquoise-blue hair cut in a bob, with two round buns on top. Its red top is covered in white crosses, and the sneakers are red too.
Both have the Toca look fans know: cream faces, big black-and-white eyes, a small outlined nose, rounded ears and a calm little smile. The hair is yarn, sewn on strand by strand, and falls just past those ears.
Why giant dolls work on a stand
A stand gets a few seconds of attention from someone walking down the aisle. A poster gets a glance. A 150 cm doll gets seen from across the hall, and people walk over to stand next to it.
Toca Boca is a Swedish studio that makes play apps for kids. Its biggest game, Toca Life World (2018), has a character creator where players spend hours on hair, faces and outfits. Anyone who has played it knows these flat, simple shapes at once.
What could yours be?
Need big characters for a stand, a shop window, a play area or an event? Send screenshots, a sketch or your brand art, tell us how tall, and we'll come back with a quote.
We're an independent studio, not official Toca Boca. More pieces for businesses are on our custom mascot plush page, like the giant white bear for another exhibition stand or this giant fox head. More game heroes live in custom video game plush.
A doll this tall needs a sturdy build. The heads, hands and ears are sewn from soft cream plush, and the bodies are stuffed firmly enough to sit up on their own.
- Yarn hair, brown or turquoise, sewn on in rows; the blue doll's two buns are wound from the same yarn
- Tops in black or red with sewn-on white crosses
- Black trousers, red socks and soft fabric sneakers with white soles and laces
- Sewn-on eyes, eyebrows, nose and blush, so the faces stay crisp
- Hypoallergenic filling
Your characters can come in your brand colours, with their own outfits and accessories. We can also add poseable wire limbs or a sound module. Mention extras at the start, because they go in while we sew.
A giant doll like these usually takes 2–4 weeks, and a 150 cm one sits at the longer end. Your quote will name the time.
First we turn the flat game character into a pattern: a round head that holds its shape, arms long enough to look right, legs that let the doll sit. Then cutting, sewing, the clothes, and the hair, which takes many hours of yarn work on a head this size.
For a batch, we always sew one sample first. You approve it, and only then do we make the rest. If the dolls are for a trade show or an opening, tell us the date when you ask for a quote.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country. Around the holidays mail slows down, so leave a few extra days.
A 150 cm doll travels in a big box, so expect a large parcel. Planning a show? Count back from the opening day and add the making time to the shipping.
Before we pack, you get photos of the finished dolls to approve, hair and outfits included.
We've been sewing toys to order since 2009. Big pieces for companies, stands and events are a regular part of that work.
A Toca avatar looks simple on screen. Getting that simplicity right in fabric is the hard part, so before we cut anything we go through the design with you: the size, the colours, the faces and where the dolls will stand. For a batch you approve one sample first. When the dolls are ready, you see photos of them before they ship.
Need many smaller copies made at a factory? We also make plush prototypes and sewing patterns for production. The details are on our Patterns & Prototypes page.
