This Marion plush is the scruffy grey Persian cat from Mongrels, the BBC Three puppet comedy. He has a white belly, green eyes, a pink nose and a long striped tail, and he looks slightly lost, which is very Marion. We sewed him by hand, made to order for one customer. That's how every toy here starts: someone tells us who they want, and we make that one.
Mongrels ran for two series, 2010 and 2011. It's set behind The Lord Nelson pub on the Isle of Dogs in East London, and it was never a kids' show. Marion, voiced by Dan Tetsell, is the dimmest of the gang. Owners keep dumping him, he turns up in bins, and Nelson the fox ends up acting as his dad. Fans still quote him at home years later. Some have even named their own grey cat after him, because it looked just like him.

Marion is made from safe, eco-friendly materials. Most of him is a long-pile faux fur in mixed greys, the kind that looks a bit messy on purpose. That suits a cat who spends half his life in a bin. We only use faux fur, never real.

A Marion plush usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.
The first part is the pattern. A Persian cat with a puppet's face isn't a standard cat shape: big head, short snout, long arms. Then the faux fur is cut along the pile, so the stripes run the right way.
The face takes longest. The eyes, brows and half-open mouth have to look a bit vacant and still sweet. The time frame includes a small reserve for handmade surprises, so tell us your date in the first message if you have one.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers get busy and parcels can take longer.
For a birthday or a Mongrels rewatch night, add the making time and delivery together and count back from the date. For Christmas, order by November 1.
Before Marion leaves the studio, we send you photos of the finished toy. Then we pack him so the fur and whiskers arrive fluffy, not flattened.

If you know the show well, you'll check the eyes, the stripes and the whiskers first. That's why you see photos of the finished toy before it ships. And if you don't love him, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Not sure about the size or how close to the puppet you want him? Ask before we start. Changing something at the pattern stage is easy. Changing it after the fur is sewn is not.
