A girl wanted a funny gift for her boyfriend. What she ordered from us was a seal on a snowboard. This custom seal plush was sewn to order for her, and we first showed him in 2012.

A seal with a board
He lies on his belly, head turned, with the slightly worried look of someone about to drop into his first run. Real harbor seals wear spots, so he got a full coat of them.

Your own idea, sewn by hand
Tell us who it's for and what they're into. A seal with skis, a surfboard, a guitar or a team scarf. Realistic, like this one, or rounder and more cartoon-like. A sketch helps, but a few sentences are enough to start. We answer with a quote, and before anything ships you get photos of the finished toy.

The seal is built from two kinds of faux fur: a golden pile printed with dark spots for the belly, sides and flippers, and a shaggier brown one along the back. The muzzle and eyelids are a short grey plush, so the face reads clearly from across the room.

We draw the pattern first, then cut and sew the spotted body, the flippers and the brown back. The face comes last: muzzle, nose, eyes and whiskers decide whether he looks sleepy, scared or proud of himself. Props like the snowboard are made to fit his flippers.

We ship worldwide. After the seal leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the courier. Parcels move slower around the holidays, so give it a few spare days.
A gift for a snowboarder often lands on a winter holiday. For Christmas, order by November 1. For a birthday, add the making time to the shipping time and count back from the day.
