Most bunnies hold a carrot. This one holds a carrot and an axe. In Russian we call him Grozny Zais, roughly "the Fierce Hare", and he's a scary bunny plush we sewed in 2017 from a drawing, as a joke gift. He was made to order for one person, like everything we make. There's only one of him.
Treat or threat
Look at his face and you can't tell what he's planning. The red eyes stare out of grey rims, wide and very determined. Under a small pink nose sits a row of pointed white fangs. So when he holds out that carrot, is he sharing it, or about to bring the axe down? We never decided. That's the joke.
Fans of Monty Python will think of the Killer Rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), the fluffy white guard of the cave that nobody takes seriously until it's too late. Our hare isn't that character. He just shares the attitude.
What we sewed
He's a tall, shaggy white hare in long-pile faux fur. Two long ears stand straight up. Long whiskers stick out from his cheeks, and every paw ends in black claws. He sits on the floor with his feet out in front.
The axe is soft, like the rest of him: a grey fabric blade with a jagged edge on a long brown handle that rests across his body. In the other paw he keeps an orange carrot with green leaves.

His body, head and ears are sewn from white long-pile faux fur. It's shaggy on the chest and legs and shorter on the face, so his fangs and eyes don't disappear into the fluff. He's soft to hold, axe included.
The eyes are big and red with grey rims. The fangs are white and pointed, the nose is pink and the whiskers are long and thin. Black claws are fixed to every paw.
The axe is stuffed fabric: a grey blade with a jagged edge and a long dark brown handle. The carrot is orange with green leaves.

A plush like this usually takes 2-4 weeks. That figure has some spare time built in, because handmade work doesn't always go to plan.
First we turn your drawing into a pattern. Then the fur is cut and sewn, the body is stuffed, and the accessories are made. The face comes last and takes the longest. Eyes, fangs and whiskers decide whether a bunny looks fierce, silly or both.
You get photos of the finished toy before it ships. If you need it by a set date, tell us in your first message.
We ship worldwide. After your hare leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier.
Joke gifts tend to be for birthdays, Halloween or Christmas, and the post slows down before holidays, Christmas most of all. For a Christmas gift, order by November 1. For a birthday, give yourself a few spare days.
