This Gruffi Gummi plush is the grumpy one from Adventures of the Gummi Bears: a bear with a bad temper and a kind heart. We sewed him to order for one fan, the way we make every toy here. No shelf of ready bears. You send pictures, tell us what matters to you, and we sew your character.
The bear who does it the Gummi way
The show started on NBC in September 1985 and ran six seasons, 65 episodes, before it ended as part of The Disney Afternoon. In Gummi Glen, Gruffi is the craftsman and mechanic. He fixes old Gummi machines, builds traps for Duke Igthorn's ogres and wants things done the old-fashioned way. Bill Scott voiced him in season one, Corey Burton after that.
As a kid you might have found him bossy. Grown-up fans tend to notice that Gruffi is usually right, and that all the grumbling comes from worrying about the other bears. Plenty of people say a Gruffi plush brings back their childhood in one go. Some of them can't even find anyone else who remembers the show.
What we sewed
- Dark brown plush body with a cream-yellow muzzle and big brown paws
- An open, toothy mouth with a pink tongue and two small white teeth
- A shaggy orange faux fur mop on his head and pink inner ears
- A beige tunic with toggle loops, a rust-red vest with a pocket and a braided cord belt
- Wrapped brown boots with straps
Every piece of the outfit is sewn by hand, down to the ragged hems on his sleeves. He looks good standing and sitting.
Your Gummi bear
Gruffi has company. The same fan ordered Toadwart too, Duke Igthorn's little ogre sidekick: mint green, big yellow eyes, pink-lined ears and a shaggy fur tunic. You'll find him at the end of the gallery. We've also sewn Zummi Gummi, the forgetful wizard of Gummi Glen. Want Cubbi, Sunni, Grammi or Tummi next to them? Send screenshots and pick the size. Here are more toys from animated films we've made.
We're an independent studio. This is a handmade fan piece, not an official Disney product.
Gruffi's body is soft short-pile plush in dark chocolate brown, with a cream-yellow muzzle that holds its round shape. His hair is orange faux fur, long enough to stick out in every direction, like a bear who hasn't had time to comb it.
- A suede-look fabric for the tunic and the rust-red vest
- A braided cord for the belt
- Textured brown fabric for the wrapped boots
- Embroidered eyes and a black nose
The filling is hypoallergenic and the fabrics are premium. Extras go in while we sew, so mention them at the start: poseable wire arms, a sound module, an embroidered name or a different outfit.
A Gruffi Gummi plush usually takes 2β4 weeks to make.
A 1980s cartoon bear is flat on screen, so we start with a pattern from your pictures: how wide the muzzle gets, how the open mouth sits. Then come the body and the clothes, piece by piece.
The face comes last. A few millimetres on the eyes or the brows and he's a cheerful teddy instead of Gruffi. The time frame includes a small reserve for handmade surprises. Have a date in mind? Say so in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7β20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers slow down, so leave a few extra days.
A Gruffi plush suits a birthday for the friend who still hums the theme song, or the parent who watched the show after school and now shows it to their kids. Add the making time to the shipping time and count back from your date. For Christmas, order by November 1.
Before he ships, we send photos of the finished bear so you can check every detail.
We've been sewing custom plush toys since 2009. Many orders look like this one: a cartoon character from years ago, sewn from a few screenshots.
You see photos of your Gruffi before he leaves the studio. If you don't love him, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Unsure about the size, the outfit or the expression? Ask before we cut the fabric. A change is easy in the pattern and hard in a finished bear.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
