Official General Grievous plush toys are small. The ones we could find are a big-head plush from Comic Images and a 3.5-inch Disney Tsum Tsum, and today you mostly find them on resale sites. The general people remember from Revenge of the Sith is something else: bone-white armor, a dark cloak, four lightsabers and a cough you hear before you see him.

That's the Grievous we sew. There's no shelf of ready-made ones here. Each General Grievous plushie is made to order by hand for one customer, in the size, colors and eye color you ask for, with or without the cloak.

Who General Grievous is

Grievous first appeared in Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoon in 2003 and got his big-screen role in Revenge of the Sith (2005). George Lucas wanted a cyborg villain that hinted at what Anakin would become, and concept artist Warren Fu drew him. He commands the Separatist droid army, splits his arms in two to spin four lightsabers at once, and keeps the sabers of the Jedi he has beaten.

The cough was Lucas's idea too, a sign that something alive is still inside the machine. Some of those coughs are Lucas himself, recorded while he had bronchitis. Put that next to "General Kenobi" and "Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection" and you can see why fans still quote him.

Three Grievous plushies we've made

We first sewed him in 2011, and he has come back to the studio since. The photos on this page show three of them:

  • the 2011 general with amber eyes and a navy velvet cloak over long cream limbs
  • a later one with a whiter mask and amber eyes, shown in his cloak and without it, so you can see the segmented white-and-grey body
  • a green-eyed Grievous with heavy dark brow stripes, sitting on a striped box

What makes him hard to sew

A soft toy wants to be round. Grievous is long bones and sharp angles. So we spend the time on the mask with its eye stripes and slotted jaw plate, the grey plates on the sides of his head, the eyes with that tired, mean stare, and the long arms and legs with separate fingers and claw feet.

Order your General Grievous stuffed animal

Send us a movie still, a Clone Wars screenshot or your own drawing, and tell us how big he should be. Poseable limbs, embroidery and gift packaging can be added. A sound module is possible too, and a cough would suit him. You see photos of the finished toy before it ships.

He makes a good gift for the friend who answers every "Hello there" with "General Kenobi". Browse more TV show and movie character plush, our Baby Yoda plush, or see how we make toys from drawings.

Skazkodrom is an independent studio. This is a handmade fan piece made to order, not an official or licensed Star Wars, Lucasfilm or Disney product.

Grievous is mostly cream and grey, and the fabric decides whether he reads as armor or as a pillow. He's made from safe, eco-friendly materials: premium plush fabric for the mask and limbs, and hypoallergenic stuffing that keeps the long arms and legs soft.

What goes into a General Grievous plush:

  • cream and grey plush fabric for the bone mask, the side plates and the joints
  • a soft dark fabric for the cloak
  • stitched lines for the face stripes, the jaw slots and each finger
  • eyes in the color you choose: amber like the film, green, or something else

Want a darker cloak, a different shade of grey or colors closer to the Clone Wars cartoon? Color changes are part of ordering a custom toy. Just tell us.

A General Grievous plush usually takes 2–4 weeks to make. There's a little reserve in that, because handmade toys sometimes surprise us.

First comes the pattern. His narrow head, the side plates and those long limbs each need their own pieces. Then sewing and stuffing, and then the slow part: the face and the fingers.

We'd rather spend an extra evening on the jaw plate than send you a general who looks a bit off.

Once your Grievous is finished and you've approved the photos, we ship him. Delivery can take up to 20 business days, and sometimes he arrives in 7. It depends on where you live, the carrier and shipping method, and how close we are to the holidays.

Around the holidays couriers get overloaded and delays happen. If he's a birthday or Christmas present, or you want him on the shelf by May the 4th, add making time to delivery time and order early.

Keep this in mind if the gift has to arrive by a certain date.

We've been making custom plush toys since 2009, more than 2,100 of them. Grievous is the kind of build we like: thin limbs, hard angles and a face that has to look like a mask, not a smile.

If you're not happy with our work for any reason, tell us within 14 days and you get a full refund.

You also see photos of your finished General Grievous before he ships, so nothing about him is a surprise when you open the box.

Why?

No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.

Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.

Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.

You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.

One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.

That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
