His name is printed right on his bib: Elefantenok, Russian for "little elephant". A client sent us a picture of this cheerful baby elephant, and in 2016 we sewed this custom elephant plush from it. One toy, made to order for that one person. We don't keep elephants on a shelf. Every toy we make starts from what the customer sends.
What we took from the picture
A baby elephant is mostly ears and trunk, so that's where the work went. The ears are two wide, soft flaps that stand out from the head and frame the face. The trunk is long enough to curl up in front of the bib.
Then the small stuff that gives him his mood. A few loops of black yarn on top, like a baby's first curls. Big glossy eyes with white highlights. A stitched smile and two thin eyebrows, which make him look a little surprised. White tusks and white toenails in faux leather, and pale grey soles on all four feet.
He sits on his own, with his back legs out to the side, the way small kids sit on the floor.
A name that's part of the toy
The bib is blue and white stripes with a pink striped edge, and his name runs across it in dark red letters. It ties at the back with a pink ribbon. That one detail turns a nice elephant into this elephant. The elephant is sewn from soft grey plush with a short, fleecy pile. It feels soft and cozy in a hug.
The tusks and the toenails are white faux leather, stitched on by hand. The soles are a paler grey plush. His curls are black yarn. The eyes are glossy black with white highlights, and the smile and eyebrows are embroidered in black thread.
The bib is a separate piece of fabric with the printed name and a striped edge, so it can come off.

A toy like this usually takes 2-4 weeks. That already includes a few spare days.
A picture shows one side of a character. So first we work out the rest and draw a pattern for your toy alone. Then come the sewing, the ears and trunk, the face, and the bib with the name.
Before shipping, you get photos of the finished toy and can ask for changes. If you need it for a baby shower or a birthday, give us the date in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Once the toy leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country, the carrier and customs.
Mail gets slow before the holidays, and Christmas parcels can take longer than that. For a Christmas present, order by November 1.
