Who is Mitty?
Light spoilers for season 1.
Made in Abyss began as Akihito Tsukushi's manga in 2012, and Kinema Citrus made it into an anime in 2017. On the fourth layer of the Abyss, Riko and Reg meet Nanachi, who lives in a hidden hideout with an old friend. That friend is Mitty.
The two were orphans who went down into the Abyss together, and the Curse turned them both into Hollows. Nanachi kept their mind. Mitty became a lumpy pink creature with a big mouth, claws and the manner of a friendly dog. Her story is one of the saddest in anime. We won't retell it here.
Why fans want a Mitty plushie
Open any Made in Abyss thread and someone says it: "I want a Mitty plush." Fans call her cute and horrifying in the same sentence. Some say she just needs all the hugs. Others want something soft to hold after that episode.
It fits the story, too. Nanachi gave Mitty a little plush bird to keep her company.
Official Mitty plush or a custom one?
Official Mitty plushies do exist, and they all come from Japan. A movie plush about 20 cm long came out in 2020 with Dawn of the Deep Soul. "Mitty in a pot" came only inside a limited Blu-ray box of season 2. Today you mostly find them on resale sites, and fans keep asking for a bigger one.

Our Mitty plush is sewn from soft pink fleece, with shaggy pink faux fur on her ears, along her back and around her tail end. That mix gives her the fuzzy, slightly messy look she has in the anime. Her body is stuffed soft enough to squeeze, lumps and all.
The details that make her Mitty:
- big round eyes with pink irises and black outlines
- little white teeth around a dark open mouth
- a long coral-orange tongue
- glossy black claws on her paws

A Mitty plush usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.
First comes a pattern for her lumpy body. Then we cut the fleece and fur, sew her together and move on to the face. The face takes longest: eyes, teeth, tongue and claws all have to sit right, so she looks sweet and a little eerie at once.
Handmade toys sometimes need an extra pass, and that time includes a small reserve for it.
You get photos of your Mitty before she ships.
Once your Mitty is finished and packed, delivery can take up to 20 business days, and sometimes only 7. It depends on where you live, the shipping company and the method you choose.
Around holidays, couriers get swamped and parcels can run late.
Buying her for a Made in Abyss fan? Add the sewing time to the shipping time, and order early if she has to arrive by a birthday or an anniversary. For Christmas, order by November 1.
