Four dolls from one cartoon: the Troubadour, the Princess, the King and the Detective. This Bremen Town Musicians toy set was a collector's gift for a young fan of the story. We made every doll by hand in 2014 and sewed their clothes to order, so the set exists once.

The cartoon behind the dolls
The Bremen Town Musicians came out in 1969 from the Soyuzmultfilm studio, directed by Inessa Kovalevskaya and written by Yuri Entin and Vasily Livanov. It borrows the donkey, dog, cat and rooster from the Brothers Grimm tale and puts a young Troubadour in front of them, dressed like a hippie and leading what plays like a small rock band. He scares off a gang of robbers, saves the King and wins the Princess.
The songs by Gennady Gladkov carried the film. The soundtrack sold 28 million records in two years. In the 1973 sequel, On the Trail of the Bremen Town Musicians, the King hires a Detective to bring his runaway daughter home. He makes his entrance singing about what a genius he is.
What we put into each doll
- Troubadour: shaggy yellow yarn hair, a burgundy sweater and flared red trousers
- Princess: yellow yarn pigtails, a little crown, a short burgundy dress, boots and a long yellow cape with a white fluffy collar
- King: a white curly wig, a thin moustache, a yellow robe with fluffy white trim and a crown
- Detective: the huge grin, red nose and goggles, a yellow hat, a checked yellow suit, a navy coat with a dark fluffy collar, black gloves and two-tone shoes
Faces are sewn and painted by hand, and each one keeps the cartoon's expression: the Troubadour's easy smile, the King's fussy look, the Detective's teeth. You can order one character or the whole band, the animals included. Name a size in the order form, and you'll see photos of the finished dolls before they ship.

These dolls are about clothes as much as faces. Every outfit was cut and sewn for its character, the way the order asked.

- Shiny black gloves and two-tone shoes for the Detective
The filling is hypoallergenic, and any fur we use is faux. Want a guitar for the Troubadour, a sound module or bendable arms? Mention it in your first message so we can build it into the pattern.
A Bremen Town Musicians doll usually takes 2–4 weeks. A set of several takes longer, and we'll give you the date when we quote.
The face is the slow part. Each one is shaped, then painted by hand until the doll looks like the character and not just a person in his clothes.
After that come the outfits: small coats, capes, crowns and hats, all cut to fit that one doll. The time frame keeps a small reserve for handmade surprises. If you have a birthday or another date in mind, tell us at the start.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays parcels move slower, so leave some extra time.
These dolls often go to people who grew up with the songs, or to a child who's just discovered them. Add the making time to the delivery time and count back from your date. For Christmas, order by November 1.
You see photos of the finished dolls before they leave the studio. Each one is packed so hats, crowns and capes arrive in shape.
