Dyudyuka Barbidokskaya is the troublemaker of a few Soviet cartoons from the mid-1980s: a shaggy brown sorceress with a long nose, hare teeth and a pink bow with black spots. We sewed her as a custom cartoon plush in 2023. Like everything we make, she was made to order, not pulled off a shelf.

Who is Dyudyuka

She turns up in the hand-drawn shorts about Tiger Cub and Monkey that Yuri Butyrin directed at the Ekran studio from Alexander Kostinsky's scripts: On the Road with Clouds (1984), A Gift for the Elephant (1984) and The Treasure (1985). In A Gift for the Elephant she flies in on an umbrella, tries to make the friends quarrel on the way to the Elephant's birthday and pulls the little spring bird out of their present, a camera. It doesn't work. Her tricks usually land on her own head.

Butyrin said his mother used to scare him with "Dyudyuka" when he was small. The team nearly called her Babayka, then kept the name that sounded a bit darker. Critics have called her the most colorful villain of Soviet animation, and people who grew up with these cartoons still know her on sight.

How we sewed her

On screen she's a flat brown figure. The toy had to work from every side, so her body became a round brown plush egg with long, thin arms and legs. The feet are big and flat with stitched toes, each hand has five long fingers, and seams at the elbows and knees let her sit on a shelf with her legs hanging down.

Her head is a mop of shaggy brown faux fur. The bow on top is hot pink with black spots and about as big as her head. Then the face: round yellow eyes, a glossy black nose, freckles on the muzzle and a wide, sly grin.

Your cartoon character next

Maybe there's an old cartoon villain you still remember, or a character nobody ever made a toy of. Send us a few screenshots. We'll match the colors, agree on the size with you and send photos of the finished toy before it ships. A character like Dyudyuka starts from $370, and the quote is free.

More characters are in Toys From Animated Films. Another Soviet cartoon beast is our Shtusha-Kutusha, and for a kinder favorite from the same years, see Tryam the Hedgehog.

We're an independent studio and make fan pieces to order. Not affiliated with the studio or the rights holders of these cartoons.

Her body, arms and legs are soft brown plush with a short, velvety pile. The hair is long, shaggy brown faux fur, left loose to fall over her eyes and down her back.

The bow is hot pink plush with black spots, stuffed firm so it keeps its shape. The eyes are bright yellow with black pupils, the nose is glossy black, and the freckles are small dark dots on the muzzle. A thin cord on top of the bow lets her hang from a hook.

All our materials are premium and hypoallergenic.

  • Colors matched to the cartoon screenshots you send
  • Any size you need
  • On request: poseable limbs on a wire frame, a sound module or LED lights

A character like Dyudyuka usually takes 2-4 weeks. That includes a few spare days, because handmade work sometimes needs them.

The pattern comes first. A flat cartoon needs a shape that works from every side, so we start with the round body and the long limbs, then the hair and the bow. The face goes on last, since her sly look depends on where the eyes and nose sit.

Before it ships, you get photos of the finished toy and can ask for changes. If it's a birthday gift, put the date in your first message.

We ship worldwide. Once she leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country, the carrier and customs.

Before the holidays the post slows down and parcels can take longer. For a Christmas gift, order by November 1.

A character from a Soviet cartoon makes a good surprise for someone who grew up on these films. Tell us when it has to arrive, and we'll check that making and shipping fit your date before you pay.

We've made toys to order since 2009. When someone orders a character from an old cartoon, they remember every detail, so the toy has to look like her, down to the spots on the bow.

You see photos of the finished toy before it's packed, and you can ask for changes. If it arrives and you don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.

That promise covers every toy we make, whether it's a cartoon villain or a copy of a childhood toy.

Why?

No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.

Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.

Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.

You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.

One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.

That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
