Shtusha-Kutusha is the "scary beast" from Fantik, a 1975 Soviet cartoon. A little girl who loves fairy tales and cartoons wanted him for herself, so we made him: a custom monster plush, sewn by hand to her order. Nothing here is ready-made. Every toy is made to order for one person.
Who is Shtusha-Kutusha
Fantik (in Russian, Fantik. Pervobytnaya skazka, "a prehistoric fairy tale") came out of the Soyuzmultfilm studio. Efim Gamburg directed it, and Boris Zakhoder wrote the script. Fantik is a baby elephant who keeps running to the pond to water his cactus and keeps stopping to help someone on the way. Somewhere in the jungle, Shtusha-Kutusha is hunting for him. The beast was voiced by Yevgeny Leonov, the same actor who gave the Soviet Winnie-the-Pooh his voice.
On screen he is a few seconds of bulging eyes, whiskers and teeth. As a toy he had to work from every side.
How we built him
He's round and big. In the photo of his new owner on the sofa, he takes up as much room as she does. The belly is yellow, quilted with stitched lines, and the back and feet are blue. The long blue ears are lined in black. A yellow-and-blue crest runs down his spine, and a tan tail ends in a shaggy tuft.
The face is the part people remember: a huge tan muzzle, a black mouth with crooked white teeth, long whiskers, a black beard of loose strands and two glossy eyes ringed in blue. Every paw has white claws. He looks scary for about a second, then he looks like someone you want to hug.
We've sewn Shtusha-Kutusha more than once. The gallery shows other builds too, in brighter blue and lighter tan, so you can see how one character changes with the fabric.
Your monster next
Maybe there's a cartoon villain you were afraid of as a kid, or a creature nobody ever made a toy of. Send us screenshots or a drawing. We'll match the colors, choose the size with you and show you photos before anything ships. A monster like this starts from $365, and the quote is free.
More characters from old and new cartoons are in Toys From Animated Films. Another Soviet favorite is our Lion Cub, and for a monster from a picture book, see the Gruffalo.
We're an independent studio and make fan pieces to order. Not affiliated with Soyuzmultfilm.
Shtusha-Kutusha is built from three plush colors. Yellow plush covers the belly, quilted in long stitched lines so it looks a little scaly. Blue plush covers the back, ears and feet, and the arms and muzzle are tan plush with a short, velvety pile.
The tuft on his head and the end of his tail are shaggy faux fur. The whiskers are thin tan cords, and the beard is a bunch of loose black strands that swing when you move him. Claws and teeth are white.
All our materials are premium and hypoallergenic.

A monster like this usually takes 2-4 weeks. That includes a few spare days, because handmade work sometimes needs them.
We start with the pattern. A cartoon character seen mostly from the front has to work from the side and back too, so the round body, crest and ears come first. The face goes on last: eyes, teeth, whiskers and beard.
Before it ships, you get photos of the finished toy and can ask for changes. If it's for a birthday, tell us the date in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Once your monster leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country, the carrier and customs.
Before the holidays the post slows down, and Christmas parcels can take longer. For a Christmas gift, order by November 1.
A big toy like this makes a parcel to match, which is half the fun for a kid opening it. Tell us when it has to arrive, and we'll check that making and shipping fit your date before you pay.
We've made toys to order since 2009, and cartoon characters are a big part of that, from today's hits to Soviet classics. When someone asks for the beast from a 1975 cartoon, we know it has to look like him.
You see photos of the finished toy before it's packed, and we fix anything that doesn't match. If it arrives and you don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Same promise for every toy we make.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
