Most vampires want to scare people. Oskar wants to be left alone with his crush. This Oskar plush from School for Vampires was sewn by hand for one fan who grew up with the show, and he came out exactly as shy as he looks on screen.
We don't keep a shelf of ready Oskars. Every toy we make is made to order for one person, from their pictures and their wishes, so yours would be sewn just for you.
The Oskar on this page
He's a long-legged rag-doll Oskar, made to sit on a shelf or flop over the edge of a bed. The spiky black hair is sewn from soft plush, spike by spike, and the pointed ears stick out through it.
The big round eyes are embroidered, yellow-brown with dark rings, one a little bigger than the other, which gives him that slightly startled look fans know. Two small white fangs sit in a lopsided smile.
He wears his green jacket with one round button, a white collar and cuffs, pale green shorts and black boots. The last picture in the gallery is a frame from the cartoon, the reference we sewed him from.
The vampire who faints at blood
School for Vampires (in English also School for Little Vampires) ran from 2006 to 2010. It's based on Jackie Niebisch's 1983 children's book Die Schule der kleinen Vampire.
Oskar von Horrificus studies at the vampire school run by his uncle, Count Alarich. He's kind and soft-hearted and has no wish to frighten anyone. One sight of blood and he faints, so he's a vegetarian. Worse still for a vampire, he's secretly in love with a human girl, Sunshine Polidori, the granddaughter of a vampire hunter.
Fans still call the show a hidden gem. People write that nobody around them remembers it, that Oskar and Sunshine were sweeter than any teen vampire romance, and that they went hunting for it again after Netflix dropped it. Official Oskar merchandise is hard to find, which is exactly why a custom one makes sense.
Want your own?
Send us any screenshot you like. You can ask for Oskar in a different size, with Sunshine to keep him company, or in the outfit from your favorite episode. We agree the design with you before any sewing starts.
More of our cartoon work is in toys from animated films, and there's more from children's books in book character plush. We're an independent studio: this is a handmade fan piece, not official School for Vampires merchandise.
Oskar is sewn from soft plush and jersey, with his face done in embroidery and a soft filling inside.
Black plush gives the hair and boots a deep, velvety look and keeps them soft to squeeze. The face stays pale and smooth, which lets the embroidered eyes and fangs stand out.
- Embroidered eyes with dark rings, plus the stitched mouth and two white fangs
- Spiky black plush hair and pointed ears
- A green jacket with a round button, white collar and cuffs
- Pale green shorts and soft black boots on long, floppy legs
Everything we use is safe and eco-friendly. Want him bigger, with a removable jacket or with poseable arms? Tell us when you ask for a quote.
A character doll like Oskar usually takes 2–4 weeks. The range leaves room for the surprises handmade work always brings.
We start from your pictures and agree the look with you. Then come the pattern, cutting and sewing. The face takes the most care: the eyes have to look a little startled but never scary, and the fangs have to be small enough to stay friendly.
You get photos of the finished toy before it's packed, so you see your Oskar before he leaves.
We ship worldwide. Once your plush leaves us, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country.
Around Christmas and other holidays the post slows down everywhere, so add some time if the toy has to arrive by a certain day.
Oskar makes an odd little Halloween gift, or a surprise for a friend who still remembers the show when nobody else does. Tell us the date when you ask for a quote and we'll say right away whether it fits, before any sewing starts.
We have been sewing toys to order since 2009.
People who loved this cartoon as kids remember Oskar's face in detail, and a wrong eye or a missing fang would spoil it. So you see the design before we start, and you see photos of the finished toy before it ships.
If he arrives and you don't love him, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason at all.
All we need from you is the character and your wishes. The sewing is our job.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
