Meet the Wonder Fish, a custom fish plush we sewed in 2015 from a drawing. It isn't pretty in the usual way, and that's the whole point. Somebody drew a fish with attitude, and we made that exact fish, to order, for the person who sent us the picture.
The best part is hidden. Inside the mouth there is a secret pocket for sweets. Open the mouth and there's room for candy where you'd expect the fish's dinner.
A fish with a face you remember
The body is black and round, with a purple belly. The tail and side fins are bright magenta with jagged edges, and a purple fin sticks up on the back. Two long wiggly feelers grow out of its head and curl forward.
Then there's the face. Huge blue eyes with white half-closed lids give it a sleepy, slightly suspicious look. Below them sit thick beige lips and a row of white teeth. People who love goofy fish say it best: the odd ones are the ugly ducklings, and that's exactly what makes them great.
Your drawing, sewn for real
Every toy here starts with one customer's idea. We don't keep a shelf of ready-made fish. We work out how a flat drawing should look from every side, build a pattern for it, and sew one toy.

Your fish can come in other colours, with faux fur, a sound module, an embroidered name, poseable parts or a pocket somewhere else. Tell us at the start, because these go in while we sew.
A toy like this usually takes 2–4 weeks.
The first days go into the pattern. A drawing shows one side, so we decide how round the body is, where the feelers attach and how deep the pocket in the mouth can be without changing the face. After that we cut, sew, add the eyes, lips and teeth, and stuff it.
The time frame keeps a small reserve for handmade surprises. If the fish is for a birthday or another date, mention it in your first message.
Shipping takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country. Around the holidays the post slows down, so add a few days.
A fish with candy in its mouth makes a funny present: the person opens the box, meets the stare, and then finds the sweets. If it's a Christmas gift, order by November 1.
Before anything ships, we send you photos of the finished toy. Put them next to the drawing and tell us if anything should change.
