We called this one "You're my little witch". She's a custom talking doll: a portrait doll with a painted face, sewn from a photo to look like one real person, with a sound module hidden inside. She was made to order, for one customer and their idea. We don't keep a shelf of ready-made witches.

A face painted by hand

The face is made in our painted-face technique. No printed photo, no embroidery. The brown eyes, the fine lashes, the soft blush and the shape of the lips are painted onto cloth by hand, following the photo we were sent. Long blonde hair falls from under a tall black witch hat with a twisted, bent tip.

The outfit is a little black dress with a round collar, sheer dotted sleeves and a belt with a buckle. Sheer black tights, black shoes, and a small straw broom tied with a black bow in her hand. She stands on a round white stand with black stars.

Say it in your own voice

Now the part you can't see from the front. On her back, under the dress, there's a small fabric pocket with a lid. That's where the sound module sits. Two of the photos on this page show it open.

A sound module is an option on request, and there are two ways to do it:

You send us a finished sound module, for example one recorded for you at a recording studio, and we put it inside while we sew. It can be removable, closed with a zipper or with Velcro.
Or we build a compartment for a module into the toy while making it, like the pocket in this doll.

Imagine a birthday, an anniversary or a long time apart, and a doll with their face that says something only you would say. That's the idea.

To order one, send a photo of the person the doll should look like and tell us your wishes for the look: a witch, a fairy, their favorite dress, a job uniform, anything. We take any wishes and happily take on unusual orders.

Materials used

This portrait doll is sewn from cloth, and the face is painted by hand on fabric: brown eyes with white highlights, thin lashes, light brown brows, a shaded nose, soft pink cheeks and rose lips.

Her outfit, sewn to size:

A tall black velvet witch hat with a wide round brim and a twisted tip
A black satin dress with a round collar, sheer dotted mesh sleeves and a dotted tulle skirt
A black belt with a round buckle, sheer black tights and black shoes
A small straw broom with a black ribbon bow

Long straight blonde hair falls over her shoulders. On her back sits a fabric pocket with a lid for the sound module, held shut with small metal fasteners. Inside is soft stuffing, and everything we use is safe and eco-friendly.

Lead time

A portrait doll like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. Some toys are quicker. The range leaves room for the small surprises every handmade toy brings.

It starts with your photo and your wishes. You approve the design before any fabric is cut. Then the pattern, the painted face, the hair, the outfit and, if you want one, the sound pocket.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Once the doll leaves us, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and your customs office.

Around Christmas and other holidays the post slows down everywhere, so add time if she has to arrive by a certain day. Halloween, a birthday or an anniversary: a doll with a face and a voice is a gift you want in your hands a few days early, not one you track nervously.
