Most alpaca plush toys are fluffy, beige and a little sleepy. This one wears aviator goggles. A client asked us for a redesigned alpaca, and in 2016 we sewed this one, once, for that one person. You won't find a stack of them anywhere. Every toy we sew is made to order around what you ask for.
An alpaca dressed for an adventure
The body is a round lump of white fluff on four short legs with black hooves. Fans of alpaca plushies love exactly that: short stubby legs and a big fluffy rump. On top sit pink-lined ears, a messy grey tuft and a pair of black pilot goggles.
The face does the rest. One eye is squeezed shut in a wink, the mouth is a wide grin and a pink tongue pokes out. Then the outfit: a brown jacket with a zip, a patch on the side and D-rings, a red paisley bandana at the neck and, on the back, a pouch with a row of red shells. He looks like he's about to fly off somewhere he shouldn't.
A little about real alpacas
Alpacas were bred from the wild vicuña of the Andes, and people still keep them mostly for their soft fleece. They hum to talk to each other, and a mother and her newborn hum back and forth. Ours doesn't hum. He winks.

The body is white long-pile faux fur that looks a lot like alpaca fleece. We never use natural fur. Pink plush lines the ears, and the grey tuft on top is a longer, wispier pile.
The face is done by hand: glossy black eyes, a winking lid, a black grin, a pink tongue. Black hooves finish the legs.
The clothes are sewn, not printed. Soft brown fabric for the jacket, with a zip and metal D-rings, a red paisley bandana and goggles on a strap.

An alpaca like this usually takes 2-4 weeks, with a few spare days for handmade surprises.
First we draw a pattern that exists only for your toy. Then the body is sewn and the face shaped by hand. The clothes take their own time, since every jacket or hat is cut to fit that one body.
Before it ships, you get photos of the finished alpaca and can ask for changes. If you need it by a certain date, put the date in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Once your alpaca leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country, the carrier and customs.
Before the holidays the post slows down, and Christmas parcels can take longer than that. For a Christmas present, order by November 1.
