This black kitten plush started as a drawing. A customer sent it to us, and we sewed the kitten to order from it back in 2015. Nothing here came off a shelf. Every toy we make is sewn for one person, from what they send us.
The eyes do all the work
The drawing was simple, so the toy is simple too. A big round head sits on a smaller round body, with two pointed ears on top. There's no fur pattern and no stripes. Just soft black fleece. The round body works as a base, so the kitten sits upright on its own, no stand needed.
Then the eyes. They're huge, flat circles of felt: black in the middle, a bright yellow ring around the edge, one small white dot for the shine. Against the black fabric they glow a bit, like a cat's eyes in a dark hallway. Turn the kitten a little and it seems to be watching you over its shoulder.
A tail with a wire inside
The tail is long and curves up behind the body in a loose hook. We put a wire frame inside it, so it keeps that curve and doesn't flop down onto the table. It's a small thing, but it's what makes the kitten look like it's sitting there on purpose.
Your drawing, sewn

We'll work out the parts a flat drawing doesn't show, like the back, the base, how the tail attaches. Size, fabric and details are agreed with you before we start, and you see photos of the finished toy before it ships.

One soft fabric and a few pieces of felt. That's the whole look.

The filling is soft and hypoallergenic. If your drawing calls for fur, we use faux fur only, never real fur. Colours, eye style and size can follow your drawing. Extras like a sound module or wire in the ears are possible on request.
A kitten like this usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.
We start from your drawing and turn it into a pattern, including the sides the drawing never shows. The eyes go on last. With a face this plain, moving an eye by a few millimetres changes the whole expression, so we place them by hand and check against your picture.
There's a small reserve in that time for handmade surprises. Need it by a certain date? Mention it in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the courier. Around the holidays parcels slow down, so allow extra time.
If the kitten is a gift, add the making time to the delivery time and count back from the day you need it. For Christmas, order by November 1.
Before it ships, you get photos of the finished toy. Then we pack it so the ears and the curved tail arrive in shape.
We've been turning drawings into plush since 2009. The hard part is always the same: a flat picture has to become something with a back and a bottom, and still look like the drawing.
