Most people who saw Gremlins as a kid wanted a mogwai of their own. Rules and all. This Gizmo plush is our answer. Reddish-brown and white faux fur, wide tan ears, big brown eyes with lashes, and that worried little mouth. We sewed him by hand, made to order. We don't keep ready toys. Every Gizmo we make starts with your message and your idea of how he should look.

Who Gizmo is

Gizmo is the mogwai from Gremlins (1984), voiced by Howie Mandel. In the film, Randall Peltzer finds him in a Chinatown shop and brings him home as a Christmas present for his son Billy. Then come the three rules: no bright light, no water, and never feed him after midnight. The rules get broken, and the trouble starts. Gizmo stays sweet the whole way through. He hums his little song and keeps out of the chaos as best he can.

How we built him

Start with the fur pattern: brown on the head, back and arms, white around the eyes, down the chest and belly and on the legs, the way it is in the film. The ears are smooth tan plush and stick out to the sides. The eyes are big and glossy, with a white highlight and a fringe of lashes. The muzzle is tan with a stitched mouth line, and the nose is a small red-brown button. His hands have separate fingers. Each foot has three toes with pale nails.

He stands on his own, one hand up by his cheek, the other held out, as if he's asking what all the noise is.

Two more mogwai from our studio

The gallery also shows two earlier mogwai we sewed. One is a small cream mogwai with tan ears that fits in a hand. The other is a snow-white mogwai with floppy white ears, glass eyes and a wire frame inside, about 20 cm (8 in) tall. So yes, a mogwai can be film-accurate or entirely your own version.

Your Gizmo

  • The classic brown-and-white Gizmo, or your own colors
  • Any size you have in mind
  • A wire frame for posing the arms and ears
  • A sound module that plays a hum, if you want him to sing

Send us a screenshot or a photo and tell us what matters most to you. You see photos of the finished toy before it ships. A Gizmo plush starts from $365 per toy, and the quote is free.

More film friends are in our TV and movie plush collection, next to our ALF plush, another furry favorite from the 80s. We're an independent studio, not official Warner Bros.

Gizmo is long-pile faux fur in two colors: reddish-brown on the head, back and arms, white on the face, chest, belly, cuffs and legs. It's soft and a little shaggy, like a real pet that needs a brush. The ears, hands, feet and muzzle are smooth tan plush, with the fingers and toes shaped by stitching.

  • Big glossy brown eyes with a highlight and lashes
  • A red-brown nose and a stitched mouth line
  • Three toes on each foot with pale nails

Our white mogwai had glass eyes, a wire frame and weighted pellets inside, so it could hold a pose and sit steady. Any of these can go into your Gizmo on request. We match the fur and the fabric to your photos.

A Gizmo plush usually takes 2-4 weeks, with a small reserve for the surprises that handwork brings.

The face takes the longest. The white patches around the eyes have to sit just right, and the eyes need the right tilt, or he stops looking worried and sweet and starts looking like someone else. The ears take time too: they have to be big without flopping.

You get photos of the finished toy before it ships. If you need him by a set date, tell us in your first message.

We ship worldwide. Once Gizmo leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country.

Gremlins is a Christmas movie, so December is when most people think of Gizmo. It's also when the post is slowest. For Christmas, order by November 1. More holiday ideas are on our custom Christmas plush page.

He also makes a good birthday present for an 80s movie fan. Tell us the date, and we'll say straight away whether sewing and shipping fit.

We've sewn toys to order since 2009. Before Gizmo ships, we check that the ears hold their shape and the fur stays clear of his eyes.

You see photos of your Gizmo before he's packed and can ask for changes then. That's the moment to say if the brown should be warmer or the ears a little wider.

If he arrives and you don't love him, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason. No water, no midnight snacks, no catch.

Why?

No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.

Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.

Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.

You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.

One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.

That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
