This custom pigeon plush was our first bird. People had asked us for realistic pets and animals before, but never a bird, and this one came with a lot of meaning attached: a white pigeon, the bird everyone calls the dove of peace. We made it in 2015, to order for one customer. That's how every toy here starts. You tell us what you want, we sew it. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting.
Pigeon or dove?
Both. Pigeons and doves belong to the same family, and the line between the two words is more habit than science. The white "doves" released at weddings are usually domestic white pigeons. Picasso's famous Dove, the 1949 lithograph that became the poster of the Paris Peace Congress, was drawn from a Milanese pigeon, a gift from Matisse. So whichever word you search for, this is the bird.
How we built a realistic pigeon plush
A soft body alone doesn't look like a bird, so we combined a few techniques:
- White plush for the round chest, the neck and the head
- Layered fabric feathers with stitched quills on the wings and the fanned tail
- Handmade plastic details, like the pink beak, plus pink feet with pale claws
- A frame inside the wings, so they open wide and fold back against the body
It took some figuring out. The customer was happy with the result, and so were we.
Your pigeon, your way
Pigeon people keep saying they want a realistic one, not a cartoon blob. Maybe you keep fancy pigeons and want a Jacobin with its ruffled hood, or a grey racing pigeon with green and purple on the neck. If it's your own pet bird, send us photos from a few sides and we'll match the colors and markings, the way we do with pet replicas. We can also change the size or add a poseable frame. Before shipping, you get photos of the finished toy.
Want something softer and cuter? See our love doves, or browse more realistic stuffed animals.
A pigeon has to look right from the side, because that's how you'll see it standing on a shelf. So we picked materials part by part:
- Premium white plush for the body, the neck and the head. It's short and smooth, like real pigeon down
- Shiny white fabric for the wing and tail feathers, cut in layers, with stitched quills
- Handmade plastic details for the pink beak, and pink feet with pale claws
- A frame inside the wings, so they open and close
The filling is hypoallergenic. If a breed calls for fluffier feathers, we use faux fur only. A grey, checkered or red pigeon is just a matter of different fabrics, so tell us the colors first.
A custom pigeon plush usually takes 2β4 weeks to make.
The pattern comes first. A pigeon's shape is all about the round chest and the small head, and a few millimeters change everything. Then come the feathers, cut and layered one by one. The wing frame goes in before the wings are closed, and the beak and feet are finished separately by hand.
The time frame has a small reserve for handmade surprises. If you need your bird by a certain date, mention it in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7β20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers slow down, so it can take longer.
A white dove makes a quiet gift for a wedding, an anniversary or someone who loves birds. A replica of someone's pet pigeon works the same way. Add the making time and delivery together and count back. For Christmas, order by November 1.
We send you photos of the finished pigeon before it ships, and we pack it so the feathers and the beak arrive in shape.
We've been sewing custom toys since 2009. Realistic animals take more care than most orders: one wrong angle of the head and a pigeon stops looking like a pigeon.
That's why you see photos of your bird before it ships. If you don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Not sure what to send? A few clear photos of the bird you have in mind, from the side and from above, are enough to start. Ask us anything before we begin. It's easier to get the details right in the pattern.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
