This round bird plush is basically a snowball with a beak. White faux fur, two black bead eyes, a soft beige beak, and short dark grey wings and legs poking out of the fluff. Then there's the outfit: a straw cape and hood that sits on him like a tiny thatched roof. We sewed him to order in 2021, and there is no second one. We don't keep a stock of ready toys. The straw cape
The cape is sewn from fabric, not real straw. Each "straw" bundle is a stitched rib, tinted ochre and darker at the edges so it looks weathered. On top sits a fringed tuft, tied off with a red cord. Red velvety cords with small knotted bows hold the corners, and one more red cord ties under the beak like a scarf.
It comes off. Take the cape away and you get a plain, very round white bird. Put it back and he looks like he's waiting out the rain on a farm in an old picture book.
Why round birds work
On plush forums people say it all the time: the rounder, the better. A chubby birb with no neck, stubby legs and big dark eyes is hard to ignore. This one is all ball. The body is one fluffy ball, and all the character comes from small things: where the eyes sit, the stitched seam on the beak, the way the legs hang.

The body is long-pile white faux fur, cut and stuffed into an almost perfect ball. Soft and a bit shaggy, so he looks fluffed up like a real bird on a cold morning.
Wings and legs are dark grey plush, firm enough to keep their shape. The beak is a soft beige fabric with a stitched seam down the middle. Two black bead eyes finish the face.

For your bird we pick fabrics from your drawing or photos. Feathers drawn on, embroidered details, wire in the legs or a sound module are all possible on request.
A bird like this usually takes 2-4 weeks. That includes a small reserve for handwork surprises.
The round body is the tricky part. A ball made from flat fabric needs the right pattern, or it ends up lumpy. We get the shape first, then place the eyes and beak, because a few millimeters change the whole face.
The cape is made last and fitted on the finished bird, so it sits right and still comes off easily.
You get photos of the finished toy before it ships. If you need it by a certain date, tell us in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Once your bird leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier.
