Meet Supercat. He's a grey tabby cat plush we sewed in 2014 from a drawing, and he clearly thinks highly of himself: chin up, half-closed green eyes, two fangs showing, and a yellow lightning bolt across his forehead. Like every toy we make, he was made to order for one person. We don't keep cats on a shelf. Each one starts with a picture someone sends us.
The secret on his paw
Look closely at his paws. One of them carries a name monogram, embroidered in a code. To anyone else it's a neat pattern of stitches. The person it was made for can read it.
That's the kind of request we like. An embroidered name, initials or a short message can go on almost any toy, out in the open or hidden where only the owner will look.
How a drawing becomes a cat you can hold
A drawing usually shows one side. A toy needs all of them. For Supercat we worked out the parts the picture didn't settle: how the head tilts back, how the darker stripes wrap around the legs and run down the back, and the long striped tail that curls out behind him when he sits.
The face got the most care. Dark grey patches around the eyes give him that heavy-lidded, unimpressed look. A glossy black nose, a slightly open mouth, two white fangs and long dark whiskers do the rest. Move an eye a few millimeters and he'd look like a different cat.
Your cat, your drawing
Most people looking for a grey cat plush find the same few factory tabbies. If your cat lives in a sketchbook, a comic or a kid's drawing, send it to us. Tell us the size you want and any extras, like a hidden name or a sound module, and we'll quote it. Supercat starts from $425.
You see photos of the finished toy before it ships. Want more ideas? Look at our superhero cat in a cape, other plush made from drawings, or original characters people invented themselves.
Supercat is sewn from a short-pile grey plush fabric. The tabby markings are separate pieces in a darker grey, set into the legs, back and tail, so the stripes stay sharp instead of being printed on.
- Light grey plush for the body, head and tail
- Dark grey stripes, eye patches and paw pads
- A yellow lightning bolt on the forehead
- Glossy green eyes and a black glossy nose
- Two white fangs and long dark whiskers
- A name monogram embroidered on a paw
The filling is soft and hypoallergenic. If your cat needs fur, we use faux fur only. Colours, size and extras like a sound module or poseable wire in the tail are possible on request.
A cat like Supercat usually takes 2β4 weeks to make.
First we study your drawing and ask about anything it doesn't show, like the back or the tail. Then we draw a pattern, cut the stripes as separate pieces and sew the body. The face comes last. Eyes, fangs and whiskers decide the whole expression, so we don't rush them.
The estimate has a small reserve for handmade surprises. Have a birthday or another date in mind? Tell us in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7β20 business days, depending on your country and the courier. Around the holidays parcels move slower, so leave some extra time.
If the cat is a gift, add the making time to the delivery time and count back from the day you need it. For Christmas, order by November 1.
Before we pack him, you get photos of the finished toy to approve. Only then does he go in the box.
We've been making custom plush since 2009, and toys from drawings are a big part of our work. The hard part is always turning a flat picture into something with a back, a tail and a face that still looks like the original.
You agree on the details with us before we start sewing, and you see photos of your cat before it ships. If you still don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
Only have a rough sketch? Send it anyway. We'll ask about whatever is missing.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
