What do you give a paratrooper? One of our customers had the answer: a boar. His friend was a big man, so the gift had to be big too. This giant boar plush stands 1.2 meters tall (about 4 feet). We sewed him by hand in 2010, made to order from a sample the customer gave us. Nobody had one ready. There is exactly one of him.
Dressed like a paratrooper
Russian airborne troops are known as the Blue Berets. They wear a sky-blue beret and a blue-and-white striped vest called a telnyashka, and on Paratroopers' Day, August 2, you see both all over town. So our boar got the full kit: the beret tipped over one ear and the striped vest stretched over a round golden belly. Add white tusks, a tuft of hair under the beret and a look that says he has heard every army story twice.
In the photo a small boar in the same outfit sits next to him. That's the scale: one fits on a shelf, the other takes the whole armchair.
Why "Pyatak"
In Russian, Piglet from Winnie-the-Pooh is called Pyatachok, "little snout". There's an old joke about him. Piglet comes back from the army and visits Pooh, who is married now. The wife opens the door. Piglet, in a thin little voice: "Hello, is Winnie-the-Pooh the little bear at home?" The wife: "First, he's out. Second, he's not a little bear anymore. He's Winnie the Bear." Piglet, in a deep voice: "Then tell him Boar Pyatak dropped by."
Our boar is that Piglet, all grown up.

The body is dark brown faux fur with a short, dense pile that reads like a wild boar's coat but feels soft when you lean on it. The round belly and the snout are lighter: golden plush on the tummy, creamy white on the snout.
The tusks are white plush, so nobody gets poked during a hug. The eyes are amber-brown with heavy lids. The hooves are black, and a rough tuft of hair sticks out from under the beret.
The striped vest and the airborne-blue beret are his own outfit, cut and sewn for his size. All our materials are premium and hypoallergenic, and we only use faux fur.

A giant boar plush usually takes 2–4 weeks. We keep a small reserve in that time, because handwork at this size doesn't always go to plan.
First we draw the pattern at full size from your photo, drawing or sample. A sample toy can't just be blown up. A big body needs different proportions, or the head looks lost on top of it. The clothes come last, so they fit the finished body.
You get photos of the finished boar before he ships. If he's for a birthday or for August 2, tell us the date in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Once he leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the courier. A 1.2 m boar travels in a big box, so check that someone will be home to take it in.
Parcels slow down around the holidays. For a set date, add the making time and the shipping time together, then a few spare days. For Christmas, order by November 1.
