A rooster plush and a duck plush, both mid-sentence. The rooster has his beak wide open, a little red tongue showing, as if the sun came up a minute ago and somebody has to hear about it. The duck answers back from behind his red scarf.
We sewed this pair made to order, like everything in our studio. Nothing here sits on a shelf waiting: you tell us which bird you want and how it should look, and we sew it for you.
The rooster
He's the loud one. A peach-orange head on a long neck, a red comb with three points, red wattles under a big yellow beak. His body is bright red, with sky-blue wings that flare out like fingers and a blue tail that curls up behind him. Farmyard colors, turned up loud.
The duck
The duck is calmer. Lemon-yellow from top to bottom, a yellow yarn tuft on his head, an orange bill with a red mouth inside and a red fleece scarf tied around his neck.
Both birds have tall tube bodies and soft beaks that open wide, the way mouth puppets are built. They stand on their own on a shelf or a desk. Want yours as a real hand puppet you can talk through? We make those too; see the sheep puppets we sewed as a batch.
Your own bird
A rooster for a farm lover, a duck for someone who quacks at the bath, a pair for two friends who never stop talking. Send us a drawing, a photo or just a few words. We can change the colors, add a hat or a different scarf, make one bird or a whole flock.
You get a free quote first, then photos of the finished toy before it ships. Each bird starts from $360; the price on this page is per toy, so the pair costs twice that. More birds are on the Christmas Birds page.
These two are all about color, so we picked fabrics that keep it bright.
- Soft short-pile plush in peach-orange for the rooster's head and neck
- fleece in red, sky blue and lemon yellow for the bodies, wings, tail, comb and wattles
- yellow and orange fleece beaks that hold their shape when they're open
- a red mouth inside the duck's bill and a small red felt tongue for the rooster
- felt eyes in white and black, and a yellow yarn tuft for the duck
- a separate red fleece scarf
Every part is cut and sewn by hand. Want a softer faux fur instead of fleece, a different scarf or bigger eyes? Tell us, and we'll show you the colors before we start.
A rooster or duck like these usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.
We start with your idea: a sketch of the bird, the size and the colors. Then we make the pattern and sew the body, the wings and the tail. The head comes last, because the beak, the eyes and the comb decide the whole face.
The time frame keeps a small reserve for handmade surprises. Need your bird by a certain date? Say so in your first message.
When your bird is ready, shipping usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country. Around the holidays the post gets slower, so allow a few extra days.
Want it under the tree? Order by November 1.
Before anything leaves the studio, you get photos of the finished toy. Check the comb, the beak and the scarf, and tell us if something should change. We ship after you say yes.
We've been sewing toys to order since 2009, and birds come up often, cartoon and realistic.
You see your rooster or duck in photos before it ships. That's the moment to ask for a taller comb, a longer scarf or a brighter blue. Small fixes like that are part of the job.
If the toy arrives and you don't love it, tell us within 14 days and you get a full refund.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
