Companies come to us for mascots all the time, and most of them are bears. A bear in a scarf with the logo on it. Nobody is surprised by that anymore.
Then a company asked for a shrimp. This giant shrimp plush, from January 2020, was our first ever, sewn to order from their drawing. Nobody picked it off a shelf. We don't have one. Every mascot here starts with somebody's sketch.
A cartoon shrimp, built in plush
A shrimp is a strange shape for a toy. It curls, its head comes to a long point, and the rest is legs and feelers. We kept the cartoon look and gave it a body that sits up on its own.
The head is long and salmon pink, with brown freckles across the top and a wide stitched smile. Two big eyes sit up on stalks, white with blue irises, and above them stick out two brown "eyebrows". Two long brown antennae come off the tip of the nose. The belly is white. The pink tail is ribbed into segments and ends in a fan of soft toes. The long brown legs are thin, and they sit a little differently in every photo.
Why a shrimp works as a mascot
People expect the bear. A big pink shrimp with goofy eyes makes them look twice, and that's the job of a company character: get noticed, get photographed, get remembered.
What could yours be?
Does your brand have a character on paper? A logo animal, a fish, even a vegetable? Send it over. We'll tell you how we'd build it and how big it can go. See how we turn drawings into plush toys, or look at more brand characters on our custom mascot plush page, like this green squirrel made for a trade show.
The shrimp is sewn from soft short-pile plush in salmon pink, with white for the belly and dark brown for the legs, antennae and eyebrows. The colours follow the drawing, not a stock fabric chart.
- Pink plush head, body and segmented tail, with the fan-shaped tail end
- White belly panel
- Large eyes on stalks, white with blue irises
- Brown freckles and a stitched smile on the face
- Long brown antennae and thin brown legs
- Hypoallergenic fiberfill, so the curled body holds its shape
For your mascot, send your brand colours and we'll match the fabric as closely as we can. A logo can be embroidered on the toy or on a scarf, T-shirt or tag. Sound modules and LED lights can be added on request.
A mascot plush usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.
Most of that time goes into the pattern. A drawing shows a character from one side. It doesn't show how deep the head is or how a curled body sits. So we work that out first, then sew, then do the face: the eyes, the freckles, the smile.
When a company orders a batch, we always sew one sample first. You approve it, and only then do we make the rest. Our time estimate already has a reserve for handmade surprises. If you need the mascot for an event, tell us the date when you ask for a quote.
We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on the country, the carrier and customs. Around big holidays couriers slow down, so leave some extra time.
Planning to hand mascots out at a conference, a store opening or a company party? Count back from that date and add the making time to the shipping. For New Year and Christmas, order by November 1.
Before anything ships, you get photos of the finished mascot. We pack large toys so they arrive in shape.
We've been making toys to order since 2009. Mascots for companies, stores and events are a regular part of that work. As the shrimp shows, we don't stop at bears.
Before we start, we go through your drawing with you: the size, the colours, the pose, where the logo goes, which details matter most. For a batch you approve one sample first. When the toy is ready, you see photos of it before it ships.
Need a factory to make thousands of copies for giveaways? We also make plush prototypes and sewing patterns for production. The details are on our Patterns & Prototypes page.
