A child drew their family, and we sewed it. These dolls made from children's drawings are a girl with a long braid, a bearded man in a grey hooded suit and a white bird that likes to ride on his head.

None of them existed before the drawing. Everything we make is made to order, for one family and one picture, so you won't find these three anywhere else.

We kept the drawing's style

Kids don't draw neat proportions, and these dolls keep that look. The girl has a thin neck, a round head and huge flat feet with the toes stitched on. Her smile is wide and her lashes stick up, just as a child would draw them. The man got a grey suit with a hood, a ginger beard embroidered stitch by stitch and a white pompom tail at the back. Why a tail? In a kid's drawing that doesn't need explaining.

The bird is a fluffy white ball with ears, an orange beak and orange stripes on its wings. Stand it on the man's head or next to the girl, it works both ways.

  • embroidered faces, so nothing is glued or painted
  • a yarn braid you can hold
  • a navy cape behind the girl, cut from soft plush

Turn your kid's drawing into dolls

Got a drawing of mom, dad, the kids and the cat? Send us a photo or a scan of it. We sew each figure as its own toy, so the whole family can be made, or just the one your child loves most. Tell us the size you'd like. You'll see photos of the finished toys before they ship.

Family dolls like these start from $405 per toy, so a set of three counts as three toys.

More drawings we've turned into plush are in toys from drawings, including Kayla, a demon girl a kid invented. For dolls of favorite characters, see character dolls. And if you're still deciding, our guide on turning kids' art into plush answers the usual questions.

Short-pile plush for the skin and soft fluffy plush for the clothes. The dolls stay light and squishy, the kind a child carries around all day.

  • Tan short-pile plush for faces, hands and the big flat feet
  • Fluffy plush in lemon yellow, navy, grey and black for the T-shirt, cape, suit and trousers
  • Long-pile white faux fur for the bird and the man's pompom tail
  • Embroidery for eyes, lashes, smiles and the beard
  • dark brown yarn for the girl's hair and braid

For your family we match the colors in the drawing: the shirt your kid colored green stays green. Poseable arms or a sound module are possible on request. Tell us at the start.

Making dolls from a drawing usually takes 2–4 weeks. A set of several figures can take longer, so ask us when you send the picture.

First we turn each flat figure into a pattern. That's where a stick arm becomes a soft arm, and the back of a head gets worked out from a drawing that only shows the front. Then come the faces. Embroidery takes time, and the face is what tells you it's still your kid's drawing.

Have a birthday in mind? Mention the date in your first message.

Once the dolls are finished, shipping takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country. Around the holidays the post slows down, so leave a few extra days.

Planning them as a Christmas present? Order by November 1.

Before anything ships, you get photos of the finished toys. Hold them up next to the drawing and compare the faces, the colors and the little details. If something should change, tell us. The dolls leave once you say yes.

We've been sewing toys to order since 2009, and drawings by kids are some of our favorite work. The tricky part is keeping the charm without making the toy look sloppy.

You see the dolls in photos before they're sent, while there's still time to adjust a smile or a color. Kids notice everything, so check carefully.

If they arrive and you don't love them, you get a full refund within 14 days.

Why?

No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.

Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.

Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.

You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.

One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.

That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
