A pelican is mostly beak, and this pelican plush knows it. The long bill is orange on top with dark edges, and under it hangs a big mustard pouch that opens wide. The rest of him is white faux fur with a soft pink chest, a shaggy crest at the back of the head, and two bright orange webbed feet. We sewed him to order in 2017. He's the only one. We don't keep a shelf of ready toys. We make the one you ask for.
The pouch
The pouch is the reason to make a pelican at all, so it got the most work. It's cut from soft mustard fabric, trimmed with dark rims, and attached so the beak can open. In one photo he points it at the sky, mouth open, like he's waiting for a fish. In the other he holds it level and lifts one wing.
There's an old limerick about this: "A wonderful bird is the pelican, his bill can hold more than his belican." We didn't test that with fish.
Small details
The eye is a pale blue glass eye set in a mustard patch. The wings are white plush with black shaggy flight feathers underneath, so you see a flash of black when a wing goes up. And the pink chest isn't far off: real white pelicans turn a little pink in the breeding season.
Your pelican, your way
- A realistic pelican or a cartoon one from your drawing
- A brown pelican, a white one, or any colors you like
- A beak that opens, or a pose that stays put (wire on request)
- Any size
You see photos of the finished toy before it ships. A pelican plush like this starts from $375, and the quote is free.
More birds: our stork with a baby bundle, the budgie pair and a very round bird in a straw hat. Or look through our realistic stuffed animals.
The body and wings are white faux fur. The chest is a curly pink plush, and the crest and flight feathers are long-pile shaggy faux fur in white and black.
The beak is made from smooth, slightly shiny material: orange on top, dark grey along the edges. The pouch is a soft mustard fabric with dark rims, so it holds its shape and still opens.
- Pale blue glass eyes in mustard eye patches
- Orange webbed feet with separate toes
- Our sewn-in studio label on the side
For your pelican we pick fabrics from your photos or drawing. Wire in the neck, wings or legs for posing is possible on request.
A pelican like this usually takes 2-4 weeks, with a small reserve for handwork surprises.
The beak and pouch take the longest. They're big, they make the whole look, and they have to sit on the head at the right angle. Feet come next: webbed toes need neat edges or they look like mittens.
You get photos of the finished toy before it ships. If you need it by a certain date, tell us in your first message.
We ship worldwide. Once your pelican leaves the studio, delivery usually takes 7 to 20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier.
Holidays slow the post down, and December is the slowest month. For Christmas, order by November 1. More ideas are on our custom Christmas plush page.
For a birthday or any other date, tell us when you need him and we'll say straight away whether sewing and shipping fit.
We've been sewing toys to order since 2009. On a bird like this we check the beak first: it has to sit straight, open cleanly and not droop.
You see photos of your pelican before it's packed and can ask for changes then. If it arrives and you don't love it, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.

Why?
No ready-made pattern. Your photo or drawing doesn’t come with one. Our artist builds the pattern from scratch and turns a flat picture into a 3D toy. It’s the hardest and slowest part.
Materials picked for your toy. The right color, fur length and texture. Sometimes we order fabric just for one project.
Sewn by hand. Every piece is cut, sewn, stuffed and finished by hand. The face takes the most time: move an eye a millimeter and the character changes.
You approve it first. When your toy is ready, we send you photos. Something looks off? We fix it before shipping.
One toy, not a thousand. A factory spreads design costs over thousands of copies. Here, all that work goes into one toy: yours.
That’s why prices start at $350. And on a personal order, if you don’t love your toy, you get a full refund.
