This raven plush started as a pun. A client wanted a gift for a man whose last name comes from the Russian word for raven, so we made him his bird. It was made to order for that one gift: nobody picked it off a shelf, and there's no second one.

A raven that actually looks like a raven

Raven fans often say the same thing: a good raven plush is hard to find, and most "black birds" get the shape wrong. This one has the long, heavy beak and the solid build of a real common raven, the largest songbird there is.

The body is black velvet. The beak is sculpted by hand, not cut from felt. Each wing is built from layers of separate glossy feathers, and the legs end in thin, detailed claws with tufts of faux fur above them.

Wings that open and close

Inside each wing is a frame made for this bird. You can fold the wings flat, spread them wide as if it's about to take off, or turn the body and head into a new pose. It stands on its own feet and holds whatever position you leave it in.

The joke is on the vest

The raven wears a small black vest with gold lettering painted by hand: the recipient's name and a short line saying he's the best, with his initial on the back. That's what turned a realistic bird into a personal, slightly branded gift. A real name stays private, so we don't write it here.

Your gift, your bird

Maybe your boss has a bird in his last name, or your company has a bird in its logo. Send us the idea and we'll tell you how we'd make it: the bird, the pose, the colours and the words on its vest. More company toys are on our custom mascot plush page, like this bird mascot. For a lifelike bird without the joke, see our realistic pigeon plush.

The raven is sewn from black velvet. It has a soft, deep shine that reads as real plumage in photos and feels smooth in the hand.

  • Velvet body and head, cut to the shape of a real raven
  • A sculpted beak, shaped and finished by hand
  • Layered fabric feathers on the wings and tail, each one cut separately
  • Faux fur tufts on the legs and between the feathers
  • A wire frame in the wings and body, so it can be posed
  • A velvet vest with hand-painted gold lettering

We use premium materials for gifts like this one. The filling is hypoallergenic. On request we can add a sound module, LED eyes or embroidered lettering instead of paint.

A custom bird like this usually takes 2–4 weeks. A poseable raven with a lot of feathers can take a bit longer.

Most of that time goes into the pattern and the frame. Every feather is cut and sewn on by hand and the wing frame has to bend without poking through the velvet.

Our estimate already has a reserve for the surprises that come with handwork. If the raven is for a birthday or a work anniversary, tell us the date when you ask for a quote.

We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on the country, the carrier and customs. Around big holidays couriers slow down, so leave some extra time.

Gifts like this almost always have a date attached. Add the making time to the shipping time and count back from that day. For year-end and Christmas gifts, order by November 1.

We pack the raven so the wings, beak and claws arrive in shape. Before it ships, you get photos of the finished bird.

We've been making toys to order since 2009. Personal and company gifts are a regular part of that work, from a bird for a surname to a mascot for a logo.

Before we start, we agree on the pose, the size, the colours and the exact wording on the vest. When the raven is ready, you see photos of it before it ships, so you know what's arriving.

Need the same bird in a batch for a company? We also make plush prototypes and sewing patterns for production. See our mascot plush page for brand toys.
