Description

This is a large Legend of Spyro Cynder plush in soft purple velvet, with a magenta belly, crimson wings and a lot of silver. We sewed her to order, the way we make every toy: someone tells us which Cynder they want, and we build that one. There's no shelf of ready dragons here.

Ask Spyro fans about Cynder merch and you hear the same thing. She barely got any. The official plush puts her in a two-pack with Spyro, in the Skylanders look, and people keep saying they'd rather have her alone, in the Legends design they grew up with. That's the dragon on this page.

Who Cynder is

Cynder comes from The Legend of Spyro trilogy: A New Beginning (2006), The Eternal Night (2007) and Dawn of the Dragon (2008). In the first game she's the villain, a dragoness corrupted by Malefor, the Dark Master. Spyro frees her. By Dawn of the Dragon she's playable and fighting beside him, the two of them chained together. Cree Summer, Mae Whitman and Christina Ricci voiced her across the three games.

What we made

She's poseable. In the photos she sits up with a paw to her cheek, lies flat, stands on all four legs and curls her tail. So no flopping, and no neck that leans one way on the shelf.

Velvet or sequins

We've sewn her twice. Our other Cynder dragon plush is in shimmering sequin fabric with pink satin. This one is velvet, which feels softer and reads warmer purple. If you want her small, there's a baby Cynder, and she pairs well with a matching Spyro plush in the same scale and fabric.

Materials used

Cynder is sewn from premium velvet plush. It has a short, dense pile with a sheen, so her purple shifts lighter and darker as you turn her. It's also what makes a big dragon nice to hold.

A wire frame inside lets her hold a pose, and the stuffing around it is hypoallergenic and soft. Any fur we use is faux fur only. Colours are yours to change: tell us before we cut the fabric if you'd like her closer to the game.

Lead time

A Cynder like this usually takes 4–6 weeks to make.

Most of that time goes into structure. The pattern has to fit a wire frame through the neck, legs, wings and tail, and the wire gets anchored so it can't work its way out through the velvet. Each horn, cuff and claw is shaped one at a time.

Then we test her: sitting, lying, standing, wings open. The face comes last, because the eyes and the markings are what make her Cynder. The time frame has a small reserve for handmade surprises, so if there's a date you're aiming for, tell us in your first message.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays it can take longer.

She travels boxed with her wings folded against her body. If a pose shifts on the way, bend it back by hand. That's what the wire is for.

Planning her as a gift for a Spyro fan? Add 4–6 weeks of making to the delivery time and count back from the date. For Christmas, order by November 1. You'll see photos of the finished dragon before she's packed.

We've been sewing custom plush since 2009, and a lot of it is characters like Cynder: loved by fans, almost never sold as a proper plush.

Legend of Spyro fans spot a wrong horn or a missing marking right away, so you see photos of your Cynder before she ships. If you still don't love her, you get a full refund within 14 days, for any reason.
