King Sombra Plush, My Little Pony Villain

This King Sombra plush is the Crystal Empire's tyrant from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and he's big: about a meter long (around 40 inches) from nose to tail. A villain you can actually hug. We sewed him to order for one fan, and that's how every toy here starts. You send pictures and tell us what you want; we don't keep a shelf of ready-made ponies.

Fans have called Sombra under-merchandised for years. You see posts like "I'd still kill for a King Sombra plush" and wishes for a life-size one. So we made him large.

Who King Sombra is

Sombra first shows up in "The Crystal Empire," the season 3 premiere from November 2012. He's a unicorn who ruled the Crystal Ponies as a tyrant more than a thousand years ago, until Princess Celestia and Princess Luna sealed him in ice. Before he went, he cursed the empire to vanish. When it comes back, so does he: a shadow of black smoke that leaves black crystals in his path. The Crystal Heart finishes him off. He barely says a word in that episode, and fans still remember him.

He's back in "The Beginning of the End," the season 9 premiere. Grogar brings him back to team up with Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow. Sombra refuses and goes after Equestria alone. Jim Miller voiced him in season 3, Alvin Sanders in season 9.

What we sewed

There are weights in his legs, so you can set him in a pose and he stays put. Even lying down, he looks like he owns the room.

Materials used

Sombra is sewn from premium fabrics, picked part by part to match the show:

Soft plush for the dark grey body and the face, so a meter-long pony still feels like a cuddly toy
Shiny silver fabric for the crown, the collar and the leg armor
Red plush for the cape and the horn, with a white spotted trim on the cape
Black plush for the mane and the tail

The filling is hypoallergenic, and the legs carry weights so he holds a pose. If we use fur anywhere, it's faux fur only. Want a deeper red, a different gem color or a darker coat? Tell us at the start, along with extras like LED eyes or a sound module, since those go in while we sew.

Lead time

A King Sombra plush usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.

First comes the pattern, scaled up so the long legs and neck keep the show's proportions. Then the armor pieces, the cape and the crown, each cut to fit him. The weights go into the legs before they're closed.

The face comes last: the eyes, the grin, the angle of the horn. That's what makes him Sombra and not just a dark unicorn. The time frame has a small reserve for handmade surprises, so if you have a date in mind, say so in your first message.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers slow down, so it can take longer.

Planning him as a birthday surprise for a brony or pegasister, or the centerpiece of an MLP shelf? Add the making time and delivery together and count back from the date. For Christmas, order by November 1.

Before he leaves, we send you photos of the finished toy. We pack him so the horn, the crown and the cape arrive in shape.
