This Toy Story pink bear plush is the grumpy teddy who sits on Andy's desk in the very first Toy Story (1995). Pixar fans call him Fur Bear. He has one long eyebrow, two little button eyes and a frown, and he's easy to miss if you're watching Woody. We sew him to order, one bear at a time. No box of ready bears is waiting here: you order, we cut the pattern and make yours.

Which pink bear is this?

Not Lotso. Lotso is the strawberry-scented villain of Toy Story 3, with a purple nose and a big smile. Fur Bear came fifteen years earlier and never says a word.

Watch the opening again. After Woody says the coast is clear, a pink bear on Andy's desk stretches. During Woody's staff meeting he sits next to Dolly and waves to show he's listening, and when Sarge warns that Andy is coming upstairs, he hurries back to his spot. A Fur Bear also shows up in the Al's Toy Barn commercial in Toy Story 2.

There's a reason he stayed in the background. A pink bear was meant to have a bigger part in the first film, but in 1995 fur was too hard to animate. Pixar shelved the idea, and fans point out that Lotso, the pink bear of Toy Story 3, grew out of it.

What we sewed

Pale pink plush with a short pile and a round, pear-shaped body that sits on its own
Cream muzzle, cream inner ears and cream foot pads
A black nose and two small black button eyes
One long embroidered brow line and a stitched frown
Short stubby arms and a tiny tail at the back

He's about 40 cm (16 in) tall. The brow and the frown took the most time, because that's the face fans remember.

Your bear, your changes

Since he's made for you, changes are easy: a different pink, a bigger or smaller bear, a smile instead of the frown. We can also add an embroidered name, a sound module or wire in the arms. Materials used

Fur Bear is a soft toy first, so his materials stay simple:

Pale pink plush with a short pile, close to the slightly fuzzy bear in the film
Cream plush for the muzzle, the inner ears and the foot pads
A black nose and two small black button eyes
Black thread for the long brow and the frown, embroidered by hand

The filling is hypoallergenic, and the round body is stuffed so he sits up on his own on a shelf, a desk or a bed. Want a longer, fluffier pile? We use faux fur only. Mention a different pink or an embroidered name at the start, since those go in while we sew.

Lead time

Your pink bear usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.

We start with the pattern: the pear-shaped body, the short arms, the round feet with their cream pads. Then we cut and sew the plush and stuff him until he sits up without help.

The face comes last. The brow has to sit at that tired, slightly worried angle, and the frown has to match it, or he turns into a generic teddy. The time includes a small reserve for handmade surprises. Need him by a date? Say so when you order.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers slow down, so it can take longer.

A Toy Story pink bear makes a good surprise for someone who grew up with the 1995 film, or for a friend who collects movie toys. Add the making time and delivery together and count back from the birthday. For Christmas, order by November 1.

Before he ships, you get photos of the finished bear. He travels well: soft, round and with nothing fragile to snap off.
