Homer Simpson Plush, Handmade Simpsons Doll

Description

Look for a Homer Simpson plush and you mostly find two things: small store versions that sold out years ago, and 1990s dolls with a plush body and a hard vinyl head. This Homer is neither. He's about 37 cm (14.5 in) tall, soft from head to shoes, and made to order. We start sewing once you order him, for you and the way you want him.

The dad from Springfield

Matt Groening drew Homer in 1987. He first showed up in short cartoons on The Tracey Ullman Show, and The Simpsons got its own series on Fox in December 1989. Dan Castellaneta has voiced him ever since. Homer is a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Sector 7-G, a job he is famously unfit for. He loves donuts, Duff beer and his stool at Moe's Tavern. His "D'oh!" made it into the Oxford English Dictionary in 2001.

Plenty of people grew up with him. Some still sleep next to an old Homer plush, and some wish they had a bigger one.

What makes him Homer

Materials used

Homer is sewn from three soft fabrics:

Velboa plush, a short, smooth pile that keeps a cartoon face clean and flat
Cotton velour, soft and a little matte
Velvet, with a gentle sheen

His yellow head is plush too. No vinyl, no plastic face, so he's soft all over, from the two hairs on top to the brown shoes. The filling is hypoallergenic. Want a brighter yellow, a different shirt for a favorite episode, or extras like a sound module or wire in the legs? Tell us at the start, because those go in while we sew.

Lead time

A Homer Simpson plush usually takes 2–4 weeks to make.

We cut the pattern first, then sew and stuff every piece by hand. The face takes longest. The eyes and the muzzle have to sit just right, or a yellow doll is just some cartoon guy instead of Homer.

The time frame includes a small reserve for handmade surprises. If you have a birthday or a Father's Day in mind, put the date in your first message.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on your country and the carrier. Around the holidays couriers slow down, so it can take longer.

Planning him as a gift for the Simpsons fan in your family? Add the making time and delivery together and count back from the date. For Christmas, order by November 1.

Before he ships, we send you photos of the finished toy. He travels packed so his face and his hairs arrive in shape.
