This ginger cat in round glasses is a custom giant plush mascot, taller than 1.5 m (about 5 ft). A public New Year project ordered him for its exhibition stand. Visitors wrote holiday postcards there and sent them anywhere in the country. He didn't come from a warehouse. Every mascot we sew is made to order for one client and one job.

Who the learned cat is

Anyone who grew up with Russian fairy tales knows him. In the prologue to Pushkin's Ruslan and Ludmila, a learned cat walks on a golden chain around a green oak by the sea. When he goes right, he sings. When he goes left, he tells a tale. Kids learn those lines by heart, so a big cat in glasses at a stand full of postcards made sense right away.

Built to stand in a crowd

A giant toy at an event gets leaned on and posed with all day. This one can change position and still stays steady on his round white base. He wears a blue velour suit with silver snowflakes, a pocket chain, a light-blue scarf with white tassels, snowflake boots and a hat trimmed with white faux fur. A postbag hangs on his shoulder. At the stand, people dropped their cards into it.

The eyes took the most patience. Each one is cut from felt and then painted by hand with acrylics. Slow work, and you can see it in the photos.

The deadline was short. We still made it on time.

Materials used

A mascot this tall has to read from across a hall and survive a lot of hands.

Light-blue soft fabric for the scarf, finished with white yarn tassels
White faux fur for the hat trim and the tip of the tail

He can change position without tipping over. The filling is hypoallergenic. For your mascot we can match your brand colors and add a logo, a name or a slogan.

Lead time

A custom mascot usually takes 2–4 weeks to make. A giant figure like this one can take longer, because there's simply more of him: a bigger pattern, more fabric and a full outfit sewn to fit.

The order goes in steps. We agree on the design, build the pattern, sew the body and clothes, and finish the face last.

Event dates don't move. Tell us yours when you ask for a quote. We'll tell you before we start whether it fits. Our estimate already has a reserve for handmade surprises.

Delivery

We ship worldwide. Delivery usually takes 7–20 business days, depending on the country and the carrier. Before big holidays couriers slow down, so leave extra time.

For an exhibition or a holiday stand, count back from the opening day: making time, then delivery, then a day or two to set the mascot up. For anything tied to Christmas or New Year, order by November 1.

Before shipping you get photos of the finished mascot. We pack a big figure so the hat, scarf and glasses arrive in shape.

Terms

We've been sewing toys to order since 2009. Mascots for companies, events and public projects are a regular part of that work.

You see and approve the design before we cut any fabric. When the mascot is ready, you get photos of it before it ships, so you know exactly what will stand at your booth.
